if they buyout James Neal, it's a $1,916,667 cap hit every year until 2027

That's the trouble with signing older free agents like Neal to long term deals as more often than not they come back to haunt you. Its better to spend money on the teams young draft and develop players like Tkachuk than role the dice on players like Neal.

The Sens will take Neal if you give us your 1st in 2020 and take Harpur

Trading Brodie for picks/prospects would clear up about 4.8 mil of space. Please.

Odds are good that Frolik is gone, Stone is gone and I'm 50/50 on either/both Brodie and Neal being ushered out as well.

Even if they absorb partial cap hits on two of Frolik/Brodie/Stone, they will be in decent shape to get the right guys taken care of. Also an outside chance that next year is Hamonic's last in a Flames uni if he wants to get back home to Winnipeg

If that plus involves Matthews...
edit... or Marner...

Well, we know that we had something cooking with Minesota (Kylington & Frolik for Zucker). Time to start throwing poop at the wall to see what sticks

Brodie (4.6 mill)
Frolik (4.5 mill)
Rittich (RFA)
2nd?

Zucker (5.5 mill)
Dubnyk (4.3 mill)

Gives us a starter for less than a million extra salary.

Don’t think Ottawa does that trade. Maybe Monahan for Tkachuk, Ottawa gets former 67’s captain, Calgary gets the brothers.

With the kids pushing, I can see Brodie being shopped at the draft.

If the return for TJ is an upper half 2nd rounder or better I don't see how the Flames dont trade him this off season.

Frolik maybe an upper half 3rd rounder
Stone a 5th or 6th rounder
These 3 moves would clear 12.5MM and give Tree some room to work with.

Any chance they’d trade Lindholm?

Imo, Brodie brings a late 1st, or early 2nd, or decent prospect.

Given that they've dubbed him the "fixer" and plays key roles in pretty much all situations... and his cap is super reasonable, I doubt it.

Sure hope you're right. He definitely eats minutes but with 1 year to UFA I think a 1st is unlikely.
