They would be stupid not to be in on him but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other viable, maybe even successful options out there

Why in the world would the Coyotes settle on a second-rater like Panarin, when they could simple ink a generational talent named Jake Gardiner and be well on their way to multi-Cup wins over the next several years???

c'mon Jim....think BIG!!!!

If there are no contract offers from the other 30 teams.

I think every team with cap space will be offering a contract to him. Arizona's hockey is growing but I doubt he will sign there with the options he has. Why would he leave Columbus to go to Arizona? Nice dreamin... I am hoping he will entertain going to LA just like every fan hopes he chooses their team.

Pararin being compared to Bergeron. Please get a brain.

When you say best places to play in the NHL, im guessing you are referring to the tax rate and such. Because the franchise should have folded years ago. No offense to the fans because I know they are there.

I’m pretty sure Tanner lives in Ontario but I can tell you that it’s really nice out. Mid to low 90s with a light breeze

Sure, the Coyotes could take a run at Panarin, but they'll probably get called for charging.

James Tanner. Aka Eklund 2.0... and don't flatter yourself by pretending it's for good reasons. I used to get a kick out of your blogs, but the more I read... the more I realize you know Richard all about the NHL. I still recall fans of the coyotes being interviewed their first season after relocating. These fans (who attended the game) were oblivious to hockey. Some didn't know what icing or offside were, another was only there because it was "air conditioned" in the arena. Were you one of these fans, JT?

Seriously man, if you don't have anything credible to post... don't post. You see what happens to the host of HB who makes up rumours to hit his noon deadline to post daily. Not the slightest chance Panarin would end up in Arizona next year. That's an "E5" certainty. Go back to your plus/minus blog. At least there you can talk about music that nobody here cares about. But when 95% of users realize they're better versed in the game than the guy writing about it... well, let's just say it's official that nobody of relevance ever gave a flying funk about the 'Yotes. Enjoy the bubble season, this squad is a lottery team again next year. When Brad Richardson is the bright spot of your roster, well that's the bottom or rock bottom. Cinderella season for the Coyotes to emulate hope. OEL's prime will be wasted. The Chychrun contract is the only thing I like about this team. I used to enjoy reading about them (as I do all teams), but like Paul Walker... even that has now lost it's appeal.

I see all of the sarcastic responses (and to be honest, I was going to write one myself), but I'm gong to try here. What criteria do you use to determine whether a player is great, or underrated, or better than another?

Heck why stop there? Panarin, Karlsson and Duchene are all UFA's. I'd say Bobrovsky also but let's face it, Yotes goaltending is pretty darn hard to beat. I know I'm going out on a limb here but I'm thinking lottery team for Arizona next year. Not a rebuild just a plain old build.

Do you guys pay attention when players talk ? Arizona has NO chance what so ever to sign Panarin he has said he wants to go to a major market. And second rate player wow talk about doesn't know what he's talking about. Panarin will end up in either L.A , New York , Detroit or back in Chicago. With the Rangers being New York 1A and the Islanders being 1B. He is a top 10 N.H.L player but he needs to play with top talent. So let's see what happens July 1st !

Why would he go to an invisible market?
A big Russian community? Nope
To star on a team that rebuilds forever? Nope
Inland beaches? Nope
To make Tanner happy or right once? Nope

It's not him wanting to be in a major market, it's him wanting to be where his gf can continue her modelling career if rumors about his preferences are true. That's NY, LA, or Miami, so Islanders, Rangers, Devils, Panthers, Kings, or Ducks. Given that most players would rather go to a team already making playoffs, that makes Islanders the front runners.
