I guess after game 7 the entire leaf dressing room was in shambles. There’s even whispering that Babs and Nylander got into a shoving match.
That team just can’t seem to get things right no matter how hard they try or how much they spend.

Babcock ran our practices when I was in junior to prep us for playoffs that was when he was coaching the Red Deer College Kings here.

He's a major Alpha...it literally is his way or no way. It doesn't wash with alot of todays youth.

Datsyuk, Zetterberg and a host of other Red Wings players told DET MNGT they would not be returning if Babcock re-signed in DET. Says something.

You nailed it. TO has a huge mishmash of personalities and opinions.

this might be a huge stretch for me but.....

with all the rumours of static between babcock and matthews/players and friction with management, didn't it look like babcock was coaching like he was giving a big eff u to the team? playing matthews 18 minutes and rolling with the 4th line seems bizarre.

almost like he's playing a game of chicken with the team (forcing one side to do something).

pushing nylander is akin to physical abuse in a relationship.

break the circle of violence.

It's one of the best cities in the NHL to regress and get paid well.

Boeser, Demko and #10 for Subbs at the draft

I discussed this actually yesterday with a few others around here and yes you may be on to something. Babcock has gotten so much flak from the TO (and CDN) media recently for his handling of Matthews and the club you have to wonder if he is just doing it out of spite? Sitting your vets and pumping your 4th line in a GM 7 is Willie Dejardins territory and Babcock appeared to be on a pedestal way above that lol

at the end of the day, he's got his $50M and his cup rings. you can't tell him sh!t.

as outsiders, it's going to be fun watching it play out.

Oh God, please don’t joke about that! Given who our manager is and his attempt to acquire him previously, anything’s possible, sadly.

Perhaps the best thing about these playoffs is it could make the trade deadline more interesting down the road. These top seeds who did very little thinking their teams were good enough all lost.

I could 100% see benning doing this deal. He might even throw in OJ, as 4 pieces seems to be the going rate for a top d.

you're right. 1 ring.

i just meant that he's accomplished everything (from cup to international) so he's not in a place to be told what to do etc.

he's getting told by a 30 year old, how to handle a 20 year old. i think he's bucking against the machine.

if the deal gets done, it's FA who made the deal (with TL recommending it.)

Well, he'll be the most coveted UFA Dman, is a 2 x Norris winner and 30 other teams will be trying to sign him.
He could go to a contender, a warm climate, or back to his hometown of Ottawa.
Not a lot of compelling reasons to sign with Vancouver

- dbot

Not a lot of contenders have the cap to fit him.

I think leaf fans are just reaching to blame someone. Babs gave everyone an opportunity, they failed. They will be back next year, better than ever

Ferland and a RHD is all we need for next year.

Hopefully a good player falls to us in the draft and we can go from there.

One more year of building with Hughes Petey Boeser and Bo and we should be looking at competing in the following season.

Hopefully lol

- LordHumungous

I'm not for Ferland. I would rather Ander's Lee or Kevin Hayes. Both can play centre which Ferland has not. In case and when someone get's injuried.
