I see lots recently former leafs have found themselves in the 2nd round this year.

Winnipeg is super (frank)ed with the cap this offseason, and listening to Trouba in interviews (and based on his last arbitration) I think there is zero chance he gives them a home town discount. unless they're willing to lose Connor or Laine I can't see how they can afford to bring him back. and he genuinely seems like he really doesn't want to be there.

Much like it took us 2-3 times to get past CHI in the first rd Leafs will slay that BOS dragon eventually.

Needs:

Kadri to stop acting like an idiot and be a proper productive 3LC in the PO's.
Another top 4 dman (slightly better than Muzzin)
Anderson to stop playing like shat the final 2 weeks-month of the reg season.
Babcock/Matthews rift to get solved. Babcock is an Alpha so like he won't give and the Leafs aren't moving Matthews so...

Cap management. Gonna be tough.

Disagree. I saw a guy who was severely hampered by having two atrocious wingers. Skating out there with Marleau and Brown was some kind of cruel and unusual punishment - they were utter garbage.

Honestly, the Jets could probably get a better return elsewhere for trouba than what the leafs could offer.

With the way people are going on...you'd think Nylander didn't have 1 less point than Marner.

Leafs clearly have major issues. There is obviously big time problems in the room. Matthews was pretty invisible all series, wouldn’t be surprised if he tells management either he goes or Babcock goes. Marner had a couple good games then was a disappearing act. Nylander contract now looking like a giant overpayment. Kadri is dirty and incapable of playing within the rules. Needs to be some massive changes.

if you guys are going to move Nylander to Wpg, it should be in a trade where Trouba is the center piece coming back. that guy is EXACTLY what you need.

a top pair of Trouba/Rielly would be RIDICULOUS. Have Muzzin and Dermott on the 2nd pair, then bring up a couple of your kids.

I imagine that Trouba will make a bit less than Nylander so it address your D and relieves a bit of cap space.

No they are not that dumb, trouba’s fiance Is a doctor in Florida and that’s also where he lives all off season. His fiancé can’t work in Canada. He will be traded to one of philly, NYR, fla, or his hometown Detroit. Is my best guess.

Trouba was the only Jets defenceman to play all 82 regular-season games this season and set a new personal best with 50 points. He averaged 22:53 per game, which was a minute more than last season and the third-highest mark of his career. He was used in all situations and was the only Jet to be top-two on the team in even strength, power play and shorthanded ice time, while still serving as Winnipeg’s top shutdown option, starting 31.75 per cent of the time in the defensive zone.

Geez, I wonder who marners line was matched up against most of the time.

But yes, he was absent from the stats sheet for too many games, but he created alot of plays.

Honestly, that game 7 was not a good representation of how close that series was. In my opinion, the Leafs wasted a GOLDEN opportunity to advance in 6. And here we are.

Upcoming changes that NEED to be made:

1. Trade William Melander. He is a selfish player who isn't helping this team win.
2. Let Jake Gardiner walk.
3. Move Dermott up to the 2nd pair, Sandin becomes the 3rd paring LD Immediately.
4. Trade Marleau back to SJ to retire a shark. Retain salary, include a pick, do whatever you need to.
5. Bracco replaces Nylander.
6. Nab one of Carolina's insane number of RHD. This one is a no-brainer. Pesce would look great in a Leafs jersey.

Changes that SHOULD happen but are less likely:

1. Trade Nazem Kadri. He can't be trusted to keep his cool and his next suspension is going to be 20 games.
2. Fire Babcock and bring up Sheldon Keefe before we lose him to another NHL club. Sheldon gets the best out of his players and knows how to manage young talent well.
3. Pick up the phone and do whatever it takes to acquire Brandon Tanev from Winnipeg. He is inexpensive, effective, plays with an edge and Winnipeg is in cap HELL.
4. Trade Garrett Sparks while he still has some perceived value, and bring in a suitable backup goalie to support Freddie. Someone like Brian Elliott would be available, knowing that Philly is rolling with Carter Hart. If not Elliott, then someone like Keith Kincaid.

5. Re-sign Tyler Ennis. He has fit in very well in Toronto's bottom 6. He is all heart.
6. Contact Tampa about Anthony Cirelli. They need money to sign Point. Cirelli would be an AWESOME 3C to replace Kadri.

Kadri was told that last year so he can leave. Shoring up the D, I have heard that before somewhere. I am happy with Anderson D and injures were the problem. so... Babcock either eats cat poop or leaves. Cap is the cap is the cap.
