Honestly I thought that Willie looked just fine the last couple of games, with the exception that he might as well have been playing 5v3 because Marleau and Brown were like tits on a (frank)ing bull out there. They should have switched wingers with the fourth line as Willie between Ennis and Moore would have been so much (frank)ing better.
- lumlums

Willie was horrible.
Sorry, I was hoping for so much more.
He doesnt seem to make players around him much better and he floats way too much

Trouba is a good target assuming he is available
- senstroll

Trouba was the only Jets defenceman to play all 82 regular-season games this season and set a new personal best with 50 points. He averaged 22:53 per game, which was a minute more than last season and the third-highest mark of his career. He was used in all situations and was the only Jet to be top-two on the team in even strength, power play and shorthanded ice time, while still serving as Winnipeg’s top shutdown option, starting 31.75 per cent of the time in the defensive zone.

So

goddamn

good.

So Trouba's not getting a raise? what is his contract?
- Drapz

he makes 5.5 now....he'll definitely get a raise, but I can't see him getting more than Nylander (thought Nylander made 8 not 7). I think, at worst, he'll get around the same.

still, the guy is a top pairing right shot dman. maybe he's a level or two below "elite" level, but he's still a big upgrade. having him at anywhere near 7 would be a great deal.

There is no deal unless it's a sign and trade.
- Drapz

If gardiner re-signs, I'll eat a Toronto hot dog with everything, poop it out, and find some way of rubbing the turd all over Dubas' phone

Trouba just posted a 50 points season while being a defensive monster.

He's awesome.

He askef for 7M+ last time in his arbitration hearing.

They're not getting him under 7M this time..

- Scabeh

And there is no way the Jets would extend him and trade him for Willie. Although he is better looking than the average Jet. They could sell some posters.

Last year, Andersen, Gardiner and Babcock were responsible for the Game 7 loss to Boston
This year, Andersen, Gardiner and Babcock were responsible for the Game 7 loss to Boston.

I'm really hoping that it doesn't happen again next year.

- PatC80

Except this year, they only scored 1 goal by our new FA signing.
No one else scored.

Hard to win a game 7 with 1 goal.

Winnipeg is super (frank)ed with the cap this offseason, and listening to Trouba in interviews (and based on his last arbitration) I think there is zero chance he gives them a home town discount. unless they're willing to lose Connor or Laine I can't see how they can afford to bring him back. and he genuinely seems like he really doesn't want to be there.

I really wonder who will sign Gardiner and for how much.

And to be fair to the guy, he was obviously playing injured in that series.

- Scabeh

Someone will splash cash on him guaranteed...

he will easily get a 5x5 contract if not more.

Trouba would look great on the leafs.
GREAT!
But ya he will cost at least 7m per, Nylander would have to go the other way for cap concerns.
Now, would the jets want another forward making 6 plus mil per? Could they fit in under their cap with their current cap concerns. I feel they'd probably prefer to take Kap plus...but that doesnt help our cap situation.

Agreed. He really gives no indication that he wants to stay in the long term.

Doesn't even give the old "My priority is to stay here with this team" lie like Snakevares.

i understood from a few years ago that Trouba was only interested in signing with US teams, something to do with his father's business ...??? (don't remember well what it was exactly.

he'll probably sign in Boston.

defensive zone starts for Trouba a bit over 50% this season
(previous years even higher, around 55-57% defensive zone starts).

BYE BYE Babcock....some very poor decision making regular season and playoffs.....WELCOME Sheldon Keefe.....bye bye Kadri....bye bye Gardiner, should not have been able to play injured, should have put Rosen in.....bye bye Johnsson or Kapanen only because they probably won't be able to keep both, neither did much in playoffs especially Johnsson

I would hope that there is more chance that Lums poops one in the queens handbag than Gardiner plays another game for us.

I'm paraphrasing (maybe someone can find the actual quote) but a reporter asked him if he was concerned about signing an extension that would help the jets stay cap compliant, and his response was "that's cheveldayoff's job"
