Sometimes man, the things that I read on here...

- lumlums

So there is no "other" side to French's statement.

GM's are lining up to spend 7 million for a guy with that production who has no other element to his game?

Yeah, the things I read on here.

My hate for Kadri is strong and it's hard for me to be objective about this.

But fact is, Leafs needed and still need him. Very much so.

He's a complete jackass and an idiot but he brings exactly what you'd want from a 3rd centre playing behind Tavares and Matthews.

If he could somehow not take himself out of the play, he'd be quite the asset. I'm not sure you could swap him easily for someone who would bring exactly that.

- Scabeh

I agree with everything Scabbies is saying. It’s part of the same reason I wanted the Bruins to get Tavares (outside of obvious reasons). Having a team with 3 great/very good centers is very hard to beat.

Bergeron - Tavares - krejci
Matthews - Tavares - Kadri

To me that signing sealed our fate. We all knew we were going to meet in round one again and when the leafs beat us to sign Tavares I thought they punched their ticket to the second round. I think this is a totally different series if he doesn’t get suspended.

Gardiner is gone.

Here’s the cold, hard truth:

Gardiner is gone and Hainsey should not be re-signed. Leafs need to pick up two top-4 dmen this off-season.

That won’t happen without a trade.

And they also need to put Marleau on Robidas Island and trade the contract.

- Atomic Wedgie

How are Sandin and Liljgren?

Also, no chance Marleau gets on that boat. He wants a cup.

if we are being fair, he was put on a line with 2 players who had 24 goals total in 164 games
- senstroll

no no no, that doesn't count.

He is an elite 22 year old scoring winger. The past season and playoffs did not happen.

Kap>Johnsson, I like them both but............
- Garnie

If cap becomes an issue.
Do you keep both Kap and Johnsson over Nylander?
Say Kap and AJ both get something like 2.75 -3.5 each.
do you keep their 87 combined pts knowing the may get better over Nylander's 61 pts knowing he may get a little better?
Again, if you had to choose.

With all due respect, I think it's on Marleau to tell Leafs management that he's done.. I don't see them sending him to Lupul's Lane or Robidas Island without his consent.
- PatC80

Sorry, yes, that's not what I meant. I agree that it's Marleau's decision. He has earned that respect. I meant that I believe Marleau probably knows he's done. He has not played well for several months.

Getting rid of Kadri, Brown and Gauthier fixes a lot of things though
- PatC80

Not really.
We lose 2 centers.

I think it has. And the record will show that I've been kickin' that theory around since October. Just the way the contract was structured set up the 'possibility' that he'd walk after year 2. And now ..with the team in cap hell and his play really declining ...I think (hope) he's the type of guy that knows when to walk.

Marleau + something of value to the Yotes for something of no value ....July 2nd.

- The Law

Probably very little value when you consider it would be $6.5m against your cap for $0. The team that could really use that is Ottawa with their pending cap situation and need to start a rebuild in earnest.

Yeah.

There's nothing wrong with Goat; what do you expect from your 4C? He plays safe minutes, he only got better on the draw as the season went on; he'll sign for cheap and only improve his overall game.

The problem was his usage; why is he playing when we're down 2 goals in the 3rd period?

Nylander's not the issue. He's a talented winger/center depth; again, usage: Marleau and Brown. Even Matthews would have trouble producing with those two.

Nylander has lots of talent - I don't think anybody is really saying otherwise.
The problem is he has 0 drive, 0 heart, 0 will to win.
Can't win a cup with him.

That is the real problem.
I thought the GOAT improved throughout the year.
But he should be on the ice when we are down by 2 goals in a game 7. babs is an idiot. Would prefer to lose his way then to win someone elses. Thats a problem
