I agree. Buffalo’s defensive corps are highly offensive

Any truth to the rumors that Superfreakorenko is making a return to Pegulaville.

why do teams think player with highest salary = good captain material.

Exhibit A. Stamkos.

Jack might be a great captain, its just something I noticed.

Probably has more to do with awarding the best player on the team the captaincy, rather than just looking at the highest salary. It just so happens that the best players are usually the highest paid when they are awarded the captaincy. You could certainly question why the best player on the team should automatically be awarded captaincy as leadership qualities do not always correlate with talent on the ice.

Haha, then yes, I agree. I would bet that the players understand who the real captains are in the room, even if they don't have a C on their chest. There's definitely those guys that you hear about who have those leadership qualities that aren't usually the best guys. Often times it seems to be veterans though who used to be top tier players back in the day. The pens had that a decade ago with Guerin and Roberts. Tampa has that now with Callahan. Not sure who the Sabres have that would really exemplify this.

just wait...Montour was a steal.

Also.
Any thoughts on getting into a bidding war over Jacques Martin? I mean the Sabres have a deeper wallet and probably a more enticing talent pool to work with but...

I live in Ottawa I've lived through teams this guy has coached. He preaches stifling defense. It's dull to watch, and if your big dogs don't buy in it's a mess.

"oh he's a teacher" ...yes this is true. Your defensemen will get better, your 3rd and fourth liners will get better and reach higher ceilings but your big talent players suffer for it.
