Do you think it’s fair to credit Subban for blocking shots when they’re actually shooting at him?

Why would you fault someone for taking more money?

Statistically speaking their careers are pretty short.

It’s not like the habs were on the verge of anything.

Even so, I’d take the money all day long..

Not faulting him at all for that, I'm faulting him for being full of poop talking about his love of Montreal.

So what makes you think he doesn’t love Montreal??

He got an offer from MB after he agreed to the Dallas deal.

Was he supposed to pan handle a contract offer on St Catherines for MB to match??

Come on.

We weren't in the room to hear what Bergevin offered before that deal was signed, but the bottom line is this: management obviously wanted him here and if he loved it as much as he implied I don't see why they couldn't work out a deal. Feel free to disagree, it can't really be concretely argued one way or another without knowing what was actually offered. He could have very well offered 5.75 or something for the same term.

Isn’t that the (frank)er that played for Tampa when someone skated near him he threw himself to the ice like he was choking on a god damn apple??

Well we didn’t have to be in the room to realize one thing.

He went where he got the most money in pocket.

And we both don’t blame him.

Put yourself in his shoes 10 years from now, I gave up 9m in taxes because I loved Montreal.

You think he’d get a plaque at the bell centre for that??

And let’s not forget, he didn’t even get an offer from MB until he agreed to the Dallas deal.

That’s what he said, and I believe him over MB.

Hains: The One That Got Away

In the Summer of 2016, Marc Bergevin rolled the dice on a controversial free agent and won...only to lose him after a season with the Tricolore.

He definitely got some kind of offer, just not quite as high as the Dallas one. Fair enough otherwise, just disappointed he was saying about how much he wanted to stay the whole year and then to jump.
It really sucks that Montreal can't flex it's full financial might because of the cap, a system designed for "parity", but the same system gives all of these American teams such a substantial advantage in free agency due to income taxes.

Probably, but the ‘used car salesman’ tactic MB tried to employ didn’t work, and I don’t blame radu for that.

The tax thing is a problem for sure, but at the end of the day, I ain’t giving up 9m to stay in a city, not sure about you.

We both agree on taking the money, I just don't like the way he talked about wanting to resign in montreal only to jump.

What is he suppose to say? He hated Montreal and could not wait for the first plane to anywhere else out of the city once the season is over?

FFS get over it.

Pretty sure he was genuine in saying that, until he got the Dallas offer.

In hindsight MB shoulda thrown 5m for 5 years at him at Christmas that year, he probably woulda taken it.

But that’s 20-20..
