Idk if this is "fair," but whatever.

I'd rather we were stuck with Pominville at $5.4 for 4 more years than Okposo for 4 more years at his 6. At least Pominville can competently play a defensive role without taking needless penalties.

Good career. There would be a bottom-6 role for him if not for Okposo. It is what it is. He'll get a 1-year deal somewhere if he wants it

if the goal is to have a playoff team, Pominville should not be on the roster. If we need to develop other players one more year, then sign him for one year and let him play in 50 games or so. 1.5 salary.

Idc if they sign pommer for 1 year. I would rather him then just about anyone on the 4th line.

how does a soft, slow player help develop players that will make the sabres hard to play against?

How so?

I'm scratching my head as to anything that Okposo does better than Pominville: Faceoff %, number of penalties taken, ability to play in the top-6 when needed. Neither play PK, both are slow.

Remember when I said how terrible the defence was and the system. I said Housley was trash and needs to be fired.

Then remember when posters jumped on me and told me I didn't know what I was talking about...that we could still make the playoffs.

Oh the memories

I think it’s more towards that you said you would want 4 more years Of Pominville who is going to be 37 soon and might be so useless at 38 when yes Kyle is garbage but only 31

Okposo is a sub-replacement level player.

Pominville is an actually good 3rd liner still.

it's really not worth debating...pommer's 36 and looks like he should retire...Okposo's 31 and the sabres are stuck with his contract for at least a couple more seasons

he's not a good third-liner...he's slow and if it weren't for the talented players he spent some time with the last two seasons, he'd have Girgensons-type numbers

Both are pretty shot, but there's no way either would make it to the hypothetical (or in Okposo's case, real) end to the contract in 4 years. I would take Pominville at $5.4 knowing that both of them would be bought out at some point anyway. Okposo might as well be 37, or 47. It doesn't matter what his actual age is. Is anyone expecting a resurgence in one of these years?

We need to move on. It was great seeing him back in Buffalo but we need some major changes and he more than likely will not fit in the new coaches vision for a turn a round.

Good read here as well

If you don't believe either one should be on the team, then it's not worth debating. But i think there's a decent case that Pominville is still a useful 4th liner/extra forward, who is losing his spot to a worse forward because of poor decisions made by prior management.

Michael-

Pommer was 4th in goals for the Sabres, playing limited minutes.

16 goals is above expectations.

6 less goals then the 2014 2nd overall pick
And actually less soft

Haters gonna hate

Pommer had some of the best in game memories of the past 8 years this year.
