I think ghost is an expendable asset. Provorov or Sanheim can take his place on 1st pp unit. They need to replace him with a steady d man.Although he has a great shot he cant hit the net.I do agree with others that you dont trade him unless your getting a proven nhl player who can contribute. On another note with all these top teams going out the (frank)ing leafs are going to win the cup.Which for me will be a long tortuous summer. My son who is 5 has already turned against the flyers in favor of the leafs. His friend tell him the flyers suck and never make the playoffs. Sad times i will do my best to convince him otherwise. lol |

if Leafs fans weren't all complete psychopaths then that team would be fun to root for but unfortunately this is not the case |

I do not believe 53 is a main piece to any success the flyers may have in the future.
Unless his value is really bad They will look to move him imo.
While I don’t see Edmonton moving him RNH would be a great pickup for this team. Flyers have the pieces to acquire him. Maybe take on Sekera as the oilers want to clear cap space. He would be fine for a 1 year stop gap. |

The first round really is the best possible scenario for the Flyers. If the Preds lose it is kind of mixed, would love the higher pick but the truth is Simmonds didnt do much.
Preds lose and Sharks lose, plenty of good teams that will be looking to change it up, great window for the Flyers to make a hockey trade and fill a need. My preferred method to build is draft, trade then FA. We are at a point where the last 2 will take place.
When teams that think they should win don't, they will make trades.
The Flyer fans Stanley cup this year was the outdoor game and the Pens hitting the wall.
From what I know the Pens don't have much in the system, they don't have a 2,3 and 6th this year, or a 2nd next year, maybe a it was a 3rd. Either way they need roster players, picks and prospects. In the past college FA's would sign in Pitt to play with Sid , I am sure they still might but with the current state of the Pens and Sid at 31 it is a little less of an attraction.
If they trade Kessel and or Malkin that will hurt them on ice but it could load their prospect pool and give them good picks. If you are the Devils, would you trade #1 pick in a deal for Malkin? If i were them I would max out on what I could get for Malkin, hold Kessel and hope I could still be a playoff team. Then trade Kessel at the deadline if need be. It will be interesting, they need cap to be a player in FA market.
All this to say, they will magically win the lotto once a generational player comes along again. |

I think coach takes the fall there - Just5
His "system" was meh even when they were going well and I wasn't impressed with him in Carolina a while back. Sometimes its just the players talent masking the coaches lack of skill... |

No first they will trade away players to go to the cap floor, field a team with bottom level or AHL talent, lose attendance, whine to league and the governor in PA again about moving to Indianapolis like the last time..We are still paying for their stadium for years...the $ was supposed to go to property tax abatement not their stadium.

Gotta love those Leaf fans since 2016. Probably 2,500 of them at the WFC in March. |

I would trade Ghost for RNH straight up in a heartbeat.
I would not add Ratcliffe. I know he hasn’t proven squat but he has size. From what I have heard he might not use it to his advantage.
The Flyers need talent so I’m not ready to trade a possible top 6 or 9 NHL player.
If Allison and Laczynski do not sign with the flyers there are two more prospects we won’t have.
Until these guys make it they are still prospects so the more they have in the pipeline the better chance they have of one reaching their potential. |

1.with some very good teams bowing early i agree those teams may look to shake things up.will need to give to get; will the flyers be willing to give?
2. things aint as bleak for the pens as some may think imo. anyone writing them off is foolish to me
3. if they trade malkin they could easily end up being a better team when all is said and done. |

You can’t get a nomination in name alone. - SuperSchennBros
1) You can. Example: Datsyuk was still getting Selke nominations even after he was put into mainly an offensive zone start role to save wear-and-tear on him as he aged.
2) Couturier, after struggling all around for the first 11 games this season (primarily due to missing most of training camp and the preseason), played every bit as well defensively as he did last year. The plus-minus dip was largely due to the struggles of other players and due to opposing ENGs. If you want to single out a few plays over the season where Couturier made a defensive mistake and it ended up in the net, well, you can do that for any player (even Bergeron or Guy Carbonneau in his prime). |

All three guys nominated had really solid seasons as well and play a really good 200 foot game. I think coots had a very solid year....maybe not quite as good as last year, but I really didn’t think he good screwed over or was treated unfairly with this ommision. The fact that the fans are debating whether or not coots should be included in this group says everything you need to know about him.....the Flyers are lucky to have him.

No, I wouldn’t add Ratcliffe in addition to Ghost. Your only adding another player if this past year was who Ghost is and will be as a player. If Ghost’s norm is more from last year then I would argue he is more valuable and Edm would have to add to the deal.
Glad your not the GM.
If I can’t get he trade some straight up I find a 2nd line center elsewhere.
I have no idea if EDM would even trade RNH but since the discussion is out there I threw my 2 cents in. |

well ghost has shown he is inconsistent. So i can easily say he is the player he was this year and 2 years ago no? Truth is no one knows as he hasnt put it together for 2 straight years. Just dont see him as a diff maker in the flyers success going forward.
yeah i can easily see how ratcliff would be a deal breaker. bad player management on my part. Trading a dman off a terrible year for a guy off his best year would be silly to think oilers may have to add. |

Chiarelli is gone so you are not getting RNH for Ghost straight up. You will need to add some prospect for sure. |

I just have this feeling the veteran d man we add is spurgeon. There were talks of us discussing him at the deadline. Hes a fletcher guy and seemingly would be a good fit for vigneault system. Hayes is the center that seems writing on the wall-ish. He signed with vigneault in 2014 out of all teams. He multiple times referenced he enjoyed playing for him. All just seems to make too much sense. Kruger could be the bottom 6 guy. Good vet leader. Strong possession and PK-er.
I dont trade #11. If were building this team right itll be our last chance for a lottery pick for a while. You take the pick to add another high end prospect to the system. Because at some point like all good teams do someone will want more than we can give them and we will need an ELC to replace him. We have 10 picks. Move a 2nd or later in a trade if you have to. We got Farabee at #14 and he looks like he could make the nhl next year at some point and contribute. We can definitely get a worthwhile player at 11. |
