Malkin & Schultz to Florida for Ekblad & Trochek.

I'd also look at Kadri in Toronto. I love his game but I think Toronto is sick of him. Might be able to swing Maata+ for him.

Unrealistic or whatever... I'm good cashing in my chips on Malkin and Kessel and moving forward with a new era for the Pens. I do believe you can move Kessel and Malkin and become a better TEAM.

Trading Malkin shouldn't be the answer. Malkin and Kessel, along with Guenztel and Crosby are the ones driving our play. We still have one of the best cores. The issue is the surrounding core. We should be looking at trades for young guys that can mesh well with our forward core. I like McCann with Sid and Guenztel (don't ask me why we didn't use that more often) but we should be looking at line combinations that work for Malkin, or getting someone for him. And get JJ of our team.

Ask Chicago. Athanasiou is a 30 goal man now. Gotta pay up for that.

I don’t want to move Simon. I think Simon to AA is too close to lateral to expend another asset like Maatta on the move. Both players bring super different things, so I think saying AA is a ton better because he scores more misses a lot of pro-Simon points.

AA is what I call a sexy asset. His perceived value will be way higher than what he actually brings. That’s not to say AA isn’t a good hockey player, he is, but his speed and cool looking goals is gonna jack his price way up and force an overpay. Meanwhile we have Simon cost controlled and producing at a second line rate. I will keep my unsexy asset and come out with better value and move Maatta for something else.

My point is that I don’t think the gulf of impact between AA and Simon is big enough to merit throwing in Maatta, when we can just keep Simon and use a Maatta based package for something else.

I disagree on the impact part, but I’m fine with using other assets.

Obviously I know it’s unlikely he’s even a target, but AA is the type of player they need to be going after. Him and a younger version of Kunitz.
