So if I'm reading Crosby's quote properly it means he wants to be a Bruin.
It's all there in black and white imvfho.

Much appreciated. We will need it given the fact our GM is in denial.

He's a kindly old gentleman.
Very nice of him to treat Jack Johnson the way he does.
Need to trade Sid for Jo Nordstrom.

This JJ debacle gets funnier every single time JR even remotely tries to justify it. That quote is gold.

I'm scared what JR is going to do. Does he really believe that this was the best defensive unit he has had here or was he trying to prop them up to trade a few? Then again it's not like other GMs are dumb enough to buy it unfortunately. Chia isn't around.

I will never understand the reason to abandon the philosophy that got them back to back Cups and completely go in another direction. The Reaves trade was the start of the downfall. It wasn't bad enough that he got a player who barely played but for some reason he included Sundqvist in it. Why?? Now I do like how he was able to get Bjugstad and McCann. That was a really nice trade but he did a terrible job on the blueline.

This is going to be one hell of an interesting offseason.

The comments from JR are directed straight at Malkin and to some extent Kessel. Not playing as a team and playing within a system... I know he is infallible to everyone here but Malkin was a baby this whole year and didnt look like he gave a damn to be playing hockey.

I expected JR to take the higher road and say he hadn't constructed the team where all the pieces fit together. Reading those quotes, it was pretty bad he blamed everyone BUT himself.
IMHO - the bottom line is there are too many past-their-prime players playing too high in the lineup. There are also too many, not quality players, who just hang on for the "Penguin experience".
There are only 2 players who can drive play - Crosby & Malkin - everyone else is just complimentary.

If I'm JR. I'm making moves before the playoffs even end.

Kessel, Simon & JJ to Arizona for Schmaltz, Crouse & Grabner. I'll take a lesser return to get rid of JJ.

Malkin & Schultz to Florida for Ekblad & Trochek.

I'd also look at Kadri in Toronto. I love his game but I think Toronto is sick of him. Might be able to swing Maata+ for him.

Unrealistic or whatever... I'm good cashing in my chips on Malkin and Kessel and moving forward with a new era for the Pens. I do believe you can move Kessel and Malkin and become a better TEAM.

I can't help but point to that stretch of games in March when the Pens played really well as a team. It was the first such stretch all season, IMHO. They played sound defense and moved the puck up ice on a regular basis, almost with ease. And yet, NOBODY seems to remember who was out injured during that stretch. Everyone was worried the season was going to go in the tank because he went out with an injury at that time, a time when it seems every year, the Metro division just keeps on wining and wining. And when he did come back in time for the playoffs, well... we all saw what happened in the Islanders series. Again, as had happened SO many times during the season, the odd-man breaks and inconsistent play came back in a YUGE way. I'll let y'all figure out who I'm talking about.
I too am a bit worried about potential moves this off-season because I don't think we'll see happen what REALLY needs to be done. As much joy as this core has given me over these many years, it's high time to look AT that core for solutions, meaning maybe a couple of them need to go to make the team younger, and maybe faster.
The way RW writes, we should have 3 Letangs and 3 Dumos on our team, and nothing else would suffice. Uh, WAKE UP call: this IS a cap league! And nobody has that luxury on their blue line.
A big shake-up is in order for two reasons... first, the Pens declined further from last season. Horribly further. And two, MAYBE if you make a couple big moves now, you can avoid the trip to the basement after a couple championships everyone seems to believe you are naturally destined for.
Cullen should be the LAST player we're worried about. So are JJ and Guds. Are they both WAY overpaid for their services? Yes. "Trade Kessel" is just silly populist banter. But I think it's time to look at what Geno (I'll miss him) and Letang can bring back. And not because this season or the playoffs were totally their fault. But because they have value as core pieces, and I'd bet the farm Sully's not happy with either one of them. Geno's east-west style isn't about being fast, and if Letang was as awesome as RW heaps sainthood on him, then why did Sid only have one assist AND NO GOALS against the Isles??
Again, I point to that stretch in March when this team actually played as a team.

When he returned I mentioned around here that the Pens were playing so solid and tight without him and that I hoped he'd change his game a little bit to match the teams current style, maybe stay back a bit and not be so risky. It was shot down with people bringing up his and Dumos HDSC% and what not...and I kind of agree it is what makes him most effective BUT I also think he wasn't 100% game ready to start these playoffs. Had missed a chunk of time and returned right before playoffs started. Same with Dumo.. and Malkin.... and Maatta...

Didn't this rumor pop up here a couple weeks ago? The way TB got broomed out of the playoffs, I think it's now WAY more than just a rumor. In fact, there's an article on Bing stating pretty much it's going to happen.

It has been inevitable since the day he stepped down from the GM role in TBL

You gotta be happy about it, aren’t you? He was great in TB. Lots of good to great moves and very few bad ones.

Ask Chicago. Athanasiou is a 30 goal man now. Gotta pay up for that.

Cautiously optimistic is probably the best way to describe my feelings.
