I'm on board here. I'm not trading Risto for picks, it's counter productive. I would, however, take a top 10 pick.

Yeah, I'm firmly in the "victim of circumstance" camp. He was miscast and misused. But Montour makes him expendable to some degree, and being the only valuable piece that we're willing to move, I'd say it's a formality as to trading him.

Trade him to Carolina for the Sabres 2019 2nd round pick (wishful thinking)

our right D if he is gone is
montour
1 year of bogo and a bunch of unknowns

the only way I see the sabres moving risto is if dahlin is flipped to RD and I saw nothing to suggest that

- homiedclown

He played that off and on. I'd say it's a possibility. If not, Mccabe can play some right D, Borgen is coming, Montour like you said, Bogo. It's not perfect, but you could cobble something together.

If Montour can take Risto's point production after Risto is traded, we're essentially in the same place as we were before we traded for Montour. If they can use Risto to acquire some actual forward help, they basically need to do it.

And I'd say I like Risto more than 80% of the people here

Dahlin-Bogo
McCabe-Montour
Pilut-Borgen
Scandella
Hunwick

Not great. But every pair at least has a puck mover.

You can also use the late pick to acquire a partner for Dahlin.

Risto(trade) ----> 2C
Late first (trade) ------> Dahlin's partner

Montour was traded by Anaheim because they saw his development had plateaued and that he is soft. He's now seen as a keeper by Buffalo/fans.

Ristolainen is seen by Buffalo/fans as increasingly unreliable. A hard man to play against, but does not possess strong hockey sense.

Ristolainen is going to get run out of town just as ROR did (For a bunch of junk and a late 1st round pick) Will Ristolainen turn things around with a more stable franchise and good coaching? We shall see.
