Sure. Elbow to head causing blood. No call. One handed hook, call. This is not the first time Boston got special treatment. - aminnes
You can say they missed something or they're incompetent but Jacobs isn't calling the shots.
Even if you wanted to get conspiratorial, it's the Bruins vs. the Leafs (owned by MLSE aka Rogers and Bell, provider of the NHL TV deal in Canada). Not exactly the Bruins vs. (insert small market negative cash flow team). |

Matthews makes a lot of small plays that go unnoticed by fans. As for production it would be nice if someone on his line could hit him with a decent pass.
He’s a sniper but he has to do it all himself. Doesn’t get many open looks. - shack67
At the rate he will be paid he should be able to create something himself once in a while. |

This is a good point.
Everybody knows the game changes in the playoffs. People can either cry about it or learn how to play that game.
Dubas is partly at fault here for not getting at least one or two guys that can make a "playoff" difference and the trickle down effect of that is that a guy like Kadri is somewhat forced to take matters into his own hands which leads to a stupid suspension. Twice.
The Bruins, on the other hand, have some "rats" on their team backed up by a bunch of guys who can back it up. And it certainly works against the Leafs. - JohnFergusonJr
But their rats are exceptional players. Those guys are hard to come by. Having unskilled toughness is worthless these days. |

This is true.
It would be interesting to see what could be done with these line combos.
Hyman / Matthews / Marner
Johnsson / Tavares / Kapanen
Marleau / Nylander / Brown
We know Tavares and Marner work well together but we also know that Tavares has played with weaker wingers and still remained productive. Maybe Matthews needs a dose of Marner to get him going. |

He will. His rookie year in the playoffs he scored 5 goals in six games. Judging a guy for 2 games is a fools game. |

It's bad enough that Kadri has his hearing, but it's absolutely (frank)ing brutal that DoPS hasn't delivered their decision with just over two hours to puck drop in Game 3. It almost feels that they're waiting as close to game time to drop their bomb to impact the game psychologically for both sides.
Get on with it! |

Babs doesn't seem inclined for that kind of adjustment but hopefully he does this. Cassidy changed poop around and it was good for him. |

I don't think anybody is going to advocate for unskilled toughness. But the challenge for the Leafs is to get bigger, stronger and tougher both physically and in character.
They got a guy named Engvall with the Marlies who has a good mix of size and skill. People have said Marchment, although his skill set seems rather limited for the NHL.
They gotta find somebody though. It's an undeniable missing piece.
Look at Tampa Bay right now. If the Leafs were firing on all offensive cylinders, they'd look like Tampa Bay. But it's not working in the playoffs versus a "tough / gritty" Columbus team.
Washington looks like they have a clear path to the Cup again with their mix of skill and size. |
