Last year Fenton used the first round draft pick on a guy projected to go in the second or third round. So whether they move up in the draft or not is a moot point, everyone in the fourth round will still be available to him at first pick.

I really believe that that 1st pick last year was not Fenton, but done by Brent Flahr, who was a holdover from the CF days. After that pick, I think Fenton probably went ballistic on the inside, but just politely moved Flahr over to the side and started doing the draft his way. I think that 1st draft, besides the Filip Johansson pick, was pretty good. I think they may have gotten steals in the 3rd Rd and the 7th Rd.

Well, at least BB is not paying the price for the lack of will in the Wild's roster. I am happy that he will be back next year. That the first move by Fenton in start of the off-season (besides letting some front office staff go, with more to come I am sure) that bodes well for the Wild. Now with the draft lottery tonight, let's hope the Wild improve on their spot and move up a couple of picks tonight.

I think 1 thing that Wild fans have to remember is that Kaprizov can come over to the NHL after this next season. So they really can't do any type of teardown/full rebuild, as they know they have to have an attractive team to ensure that KK will come over. So Fenton has his work cut out for him during this upcoming off-season. But he will have a decent amount of cap space and some very tradable assets to work with. Let's hope he makes are the right moves.
