Actually Washington does have something to play for. If the islanders beat Florida and Washington loses to Montreal. The last game will be for first place

"One side effect of using an incapable pair against the tougher matchups is that other pairings can breath a little"....which pair is this referring to?

Or if the Isles only win one and the Pens win two, both teams swap 2nd and 3rd place.

There are several different scenarios that can play out yet.

Thanks for sucking.

Now the kings can finish no lower than 4th and have better odds at winning the lottery

The Letang-Cullen pairing?

If the Pens get locked into 3rd place, making their 82nd game meaningless, I really want them to put out a JJ-Cullen defense pairing just to see RW's brain go on a full-blown meltdown.

hahah I would imagine there would be a few more brains in full-blown meltdown mode.

I think the Isles go 1-1 to finish, but whether or not either of those games go to OT is another story.

I have to think the Pens will be more motivated right now to kill it the rest of the season.

I would think so too. I also want no part of Pittsburgh in the playoffs. They have the experience and skills to make it a short series.

Islanders are an unproven team come playoffs. Barzal has never been there before and that’s going to be a lot pressure on him and others who never tasted the playoffs

I have to think Pens/Isles is almost a given unless the Pens tank the rest of the season. If the Pens aren't healthy then you have nothing to worry about.

At this point we don't know if Letang, Malkin and Dumo are just being protected or we might not see them in game 1.

I thought Malkin and letang were back? Letang kills the islanders so from a fan stand point hope he is not playing. The islanders seem to get the best of Pittsburgh when he is not playing

Nope. Neither have even practiced with the team in a non-contact jersey yet.

Maybe they are just testing them up for the playoffs. You would think though regardless that the pens win out

I have to hope, but how knows. The Pens need to change their gameplan up if not. They need to start playing some ugly hockey in front of goalies.
