I would be shocked if Dubas traded Nylander. Outside of some stupid overpay by a team, there is no way Dubas moves him.

I cant see it at all.

the leafs spend a lot of time in their own zone.
On several occasions.

Polak's fault

I think we've needed some high and off the glass lately, instead of soft and up the middle.

Not too many teams looking for $7m 3C's with 15 5v5 points in 42 games, you're probably right

I think that Leafs will keep Nylander if they get past Bruins in round 1.
Personally I still think they should consider trading Nylander for a different type of leftwinger to play with Matthews and Kapanen.

If Leafs lose again in round 1, I assume Dubas understands he needs to make more than a few slight changes this offseason.

Isn't that a classic overreaction?
We lost in round 1, to a really, really good team.. Time to blow it up and start over again?

three consecutive first round exits?
(after that debacle a few years earlier vs Boston).
yeah - not an overreaction; it's called sunk cost fallacy.

haha, Leafs won't be doing anything if we lose. They said this will take time, I don't think we have a Stanley Cup winning team just yet...but that's just me.

Blaming Babcock and then watching our D makes me wonder what the (frank) they expect him to do....he used to play maybe he could get his old phone books out

Let's agree to disagree, I don't think people are declaring the Leafs Cup champs this year.

They will likely make a move or two to help on D, and on our bottom 6 forward group, but I don't expect wholesale changes if we lose to Boston... again

Not sure why there is no way he moves him?
Its crunch time for the leafs and their cap, maybe in order to get both kap and johnsson signed and bring in a dman, willie is moved. Maybe he wants Gardiner back.
Dunno.
But its not far fetched.

Or he moves out one of kap or johnsson.
Brown is likely out.
But something else will have to give.

We'll see. Zach Hyman played a season in the A before playing a handful of games with the big club that season. However, will butcher came straight into the league with the Devils and scored 44 points. Jimmy Vesey came straight into the league and has not been a star by any means, though looks to be doing better point-wise this year for the amount of hype that surrounded him.

who knows!!

well, not with the lack of action in the run up to trade deadline - you're correct.

leafs didn't address the needs for:
2nd line LW (add LW depth)
additional 3rd pairing d-man with some experience
proper backup goalie

Im not pretending to know.
But with the cap, we still need help on D, and some of our forwards will be getting big raises.
So moves will occur, what, dunno yet.

It was stated that his contract will start next and he'll sign a professional contract and play for the Marlies for the remainder of the year and playoffs.

Exactly, and trading nylander isnt a dumb a move.
If its required.
Hes not an untouchable player. Thinking so, is just dumb.

Move on.

The very Obvious names are

Marleau (tough to move but his cap is a big problem)
Brown - paid too much for a 3/4th line now
Hainsey - UFA gone
Gardiner - UFA gone
Zaitsev - (tough to move but his cap is a big problem)

Seems pretty clear to me

Selling low on a player like Nylander is dumb.

once Auston and Willie get back in he groove, we will stop hearing this nonsense.
