Another thing of note is that Maurice trusts the Kulikov/Myers pairing more than Trouba/ Chariot in the dying minutes and against the top lines the last few games. That all being said I thought Trouba had a good overall game last night and deserved that goal after working hard to make it a 3 on 2 rush. I'll try and forget the gaffe a few minutes before that where he almost handed the game away. - jetsnation
Because Maurice trusts them doesn’t make it right. We are a 500 team since Christmas, it doesn’t appear to me Maurice is making smart choices |

Panarin is one of the rare success stories coming from the KHL.
There aren't a lot of them, mostly because the good imports come to the NHL early on, and what is left in the K are the scraps. It's a league for seniors...LOL

I was happy he rebounded after that WTF R U doing play!! LOL He has made a few of these where he serves up a big pizza usually right at that same spot. But, at least he collected himself and played well after that and got in on the rush. He also had a post as well if I recall.
Laine had two posts on one shift as well and Wheelers goal was Laine's shot off the crossbar. Lots of iron last night. |

Trap teams do get power plays.
Kovie has a whopping 9 points on the power play.
I googled that. - bennythehat
They’ve been playing him on the right wall for over half the season... with a minimum of shooting outside of him... on a team that can’t buy a goal... 5 years into decline...

Some Laine thoughts:
did he take it personally and as an insult that he was on the '2nd' line? In a recent interview he said something like 'now i'm playing against the best so i have to be my best all the time' (that could be a really gross mis-quote) as though 2nd line was for second tier players.
he is playing with more confidence and from before the boston game this was evident
still not moving his feet, very static on PP, on any board work, and in d-zone. When he adds some purposeful motion to finding and creating passing lanes on the PP the goals will return.
Wheeler and Sheif are proving they can carry most of the load and let Laine be Laine.
It was pure relief to see Copp out with Wheeler and Sheiffle for the last 2 minutes of play. - 2.0
Laine is carrying the line. Wheeler looks lost, and Scheifele has been dangerously lazy of late |

Correct. It's not like we don't get some good players from Russia because we obviously do. They usually come over a few years after getting drafted. A few stay there, but its definitely an old-timers league or players who have no hope of NHL or retire to play there. Most decent AHL teams could beat pretty much any of their teams hands down probably 80% of the time. It wouldn't even be close. Some OHL teams could beat most of them as well.

Tarasenko used to have meetings with his GM, begging him to bring Panarin over on a PTO. I am sure he deeply regrets ignoring Tarasenko.
To a much lesser note. The Devils have 27 year old Yakovlev, who is a very skilled LD. Only problem is they have him tearing up the AHL, or call him up to play 4th line LW. Quite odd but the guy can play. |

Never understood Postma. The guy had all the athleticism and talent. Just zero hockey IQ. Unfortunate. |

I always thought Postma was a poor mans Jake Gardiner. Not quite as much offensive as Gardiner, ok but not as good anylitics as Gardiner, and finally the lack of hockey sense and ability to make absolutely bone head/turn over type plays at an even higher rate than Gardiner |

And of course, you know everything,as usual.
My original point was that the Supreme Star of the KHL is a very average NHL player.

A sure sign that its time to move on to a fresh thread is when we all once again degrade to the levels of talking about players that couldn't make it such as Postma and Petan, and much lesser leagues like the KHL. |

Heres another dose of reality. It's not even close. Benny easily has 10x the hockey knowledge you do.
...and please change the statement about "I don't know everything" to " I don't know much" if you want to maintain any sense of accuracy because your posts on this thread, as usual, are laughable at best.

I hope you all checked out the sick shootout goal by my boy Elias Pettersson last night. One of the better ones you'll ever see.
...and while on the subject of the Canucks. I find it amazing that Brandon Tanev can use his body as a wrecking ball both hitting, taking hits, and blocking shots and yet never get injured. Meanwhile, his brother is this decade's poster boy for an injury prone player. |

Shoutout to Ben Chiarot for a stat line that shows he competed hard for all his 14minutes. Every contender needs efforts like that

Big game for Chairot with a nice assist on the Scheif goal. - CharlieDog
Yes. Chiarot has been playing with a ton more confidence of late and it shows in his game. The extra ice time has been good for him. I also think Nathan Beaulieu has been playing well enough to supplant Joe Morrow in the depth charts as we move forward.
I love everything about Scheif except the fact that he really has to dial it down a whole lot on the whining to the officials. They aren't going to change the call so please give it a rest.
