My point was that Pelech is not "core four" material. I am not breaking anyone up at the moment, and am pleased he is playing well at the moment. I don't however believe Pelech will be a Great top 4 d-man. I do think Dobson/wilde have that type of upside. If you think I am plugging Dobson into the line up next year you are mistaken.
Pelech has been good the last couple of games. He has not been as consistent as Pulock and Mayfield has this year. Boychuk was much better this year than last but has been reverting back to lately. Especially when they pair him with Leddy. - niteislander
And my point was that it's premature to write off Pelech as just a bottom pair guy. A year ago, we were all ready to jettison him into the sun. Now he's playing very effectively with Pulock. I don't want to see them broken up, unless Pelech's play regresses. I see them both as having 2nd pairing potential. |

Easy, Mayfield has been bad lately and Pelech has been playing well for about two weeks. Plenty of time left to prove me right. - eichiefs9

Most overrated coach in the league. Good. But overrated. Guy had success with all-star cast Red Wings teams and (frank)ing Team Canada. I could probably coach Team Canada to multiple gold medals. - eichiefs9
You could argue that he didn't have anywhere near the success in Detroit that he should have, too. |

Mayfield has been fine to be honest. You are always going to go through stretches where u struggle. Leddy to me has been struggling all year. I actually cringe when he gets the puck |

Mayfield hasn't been very good lately. But that post was mostly tongue-in-cheek.
Yes, both have been good so far and largely proven me wrong, Pelech moreso lately than Mayfield. Pelech done well complementing Pulock and Mayfield has been a versatile bottom pair guy. |

Gomez aside lou had built a great staff in the front office and in other off ice areas to be a real team not 1 guy with 4 titles - Upstate_isles
Yeah Gomez doesn’t seem like the right hire and
I’m a little uncomfortable with Thompson in Bridgeport also. Not sure if that’s just because Snow hired him but minus toews there’s not really much for that guy to hang his hat on over an extremely large sample size. Maybe that improves with the organizational and system changes but I’ve never been a fan of the guy albeit not based on anything but what we’ve seen success wise from his team and prospect growth. |

Pelech has looked great LATELY I hope he can keep it up but I’m not going to lie I’m not exactly bullish on that... Mayfield has been about as steady of a bottom pairing as you could hope for. |

That being said I can see Leddy being traded and some different d pairings next year. I still feel we will see a done what different line up next year |

No argument with Leddy. I've been a big proponent of shopping him for awhile and the success of the younger/cheaper guys lately has only cemented that idea in my head. If Staple says that a few execs/scouts around the league think he's worth a minimum of a top-6 forward, if not more, than I'm all for it. Off the top of my head I could see these teams being a fit for him, in that they both have the cap space, the assets to trade, and the need for him:
- Dallas (Maybe something like Roope Hintz and 1st?, assuming they don't lose their first this year or next in the Zuccarello deal)
- Edmonton (My Nugeboner is large, we know this)
- Leafs (I envision this as something like a Kadri for Leddy one-for-one deal, they'd have to shed salary to take him. Probably not a likely destination)
- Chicago (Leddy for Saad? Maybe?)
- Buffalo? Maybe? |

I like the Edmonton idea. We are going to need some better offense. We seem to have the goaltending and defense down it’s the offense the islanders need help with |

Islanders forward depth is not good, organizationally speaking, especially at center. They're going to have to add a 2C through either trade or UFA. |

Swapping Leddy and Nuge would be the last straw for me.
But hey, it’d make the Islanders much better, so there’s that. |
