Honestly Pelech has been better than Leddy in the d zone this year for me. Trotz May think so too since he’s been on the third pairing the last few games.
If the return was right I would trade him. Not far fetched from AS at all. - nyisles7
I agree that Pelech has played much better lately. I don't however see him as a "core four" guy. I have said for a while I would be fine moving Leddy at some point. I would think one of the Wilde/Dobson tandem would be added to our top 4 in the near future. Then 2 of the Pelech, Hickey, Aho, boychuk or whoever could be the bottom pairing. (Mayfield continues to get better too by the way... ) |

Shaw said the Islanders played like a team that wants to be in the playoffs, that is in playoff mode. “They were. They came out to win the game from the start. They wanted to win more than we did.”
I agree they looked rejuvenated and refocused |

Pulock - Pelech have become an effective top 4 pairing. I wouldn't be making plans to break them up in the hopes that one of Wilde/Dobson, neither of whom has played at the professional level, might become effective in that role "in the near future." |

Pelech has two more years on his deal, Mayfield four. Those guys are, in a perfect world, bridges to the young guys like Wilde/Dobson.
Wilde is AHL-eligible next year and I have a strong feeling he'll be there. He's slaying the OHL at 19 so it's pointless to me to send him back there for another year. He's got the frame to play against pro's and we may as well get him going down that road. |

Agreed, they're looking good. Toews is definitely looking very comfortable as well. Still have Aho & Wotherspoon in BPT. With Wilde & Dobson coming in a couple years, the D corp isn't looking too shabby.
Good win last night. They played a pretty solid game all in all. |

Definitely. Playing against, for lack of a better phrase, inferior talent won't help his progression. Get him used to the bigger faster opponents and different game strategies. |

If Wilde was 5'9" I could understand him going back to Saginaw to hone the finer points of his game. But he's 6'4" and I think he's probably ready to make the jump to the AHL. |

So snow didn't do that bad locking up Mayfield and while he may be a bridge player I think hes played great this year and Pulock is a legit top guy and toews is very good too. Pelech seems to have picked up his game as well, I like where staple was headed in trading leddy |

If one of Wilde or Dobson turns out being a stud we’re in a good situation with what we already have . If both of them wind up being great players we’re set on the back end probably better than we’ve been in more than twenty years. |

Did you see last night when Mayfield hit some guy up high near the blue line, planting him on his kiester? Mayfield also had a few words for Domi after the latter was trying to provoke Barzal. I'm liking what Mayfield brings to the team. |

Defenseman are a crapshoot and the old line is that it takes 300 games to really see what you have in a defenseman. But there's no reason not to be excited about both of them. They're complimentary to each other and, while it's stupid as (frank) to predict it now, I could see them being a pairing. Wilde takes risks and puts up points, Dobson is the defensively-sound anchor. |

Pretty strange. Good to have a good team and developing prospects. Great that this team is (at this point)in the drivers seat so to speak for once. |

If Dallas misses the playoffs i could see them blowing it up.
If we could build something around Leddy for Seguin i would do that in a second.

Of course the only position more of a crap shoot is goalie but these kids are looking pretty good. You know me I’m not one to get to overly excited with prospects but with what I feel is the proper management in place these kids have more of a legitimate shot than prospects past. Also, Dobson has a bit of an offensive game himself he’s no slouch. He’s not Wilde but it’s not too far off thinking he could be a 40 Point player. |
