If Coleman can get to 30 that would be beyond amazing, but he gonna be do for a nice raise.
Sev keeps being a solid rock. His cap hit looking real good now.

Too bad we won. We'll prob pick 5-6-7.

Can't argue with Todd on anything. Great write up.

I'm not happy about the results since we should be tanking and that should be unavoidable with this lineup - but it's nice to win also.

Kenny Agostino looks like a real NHLer and he's 26 years old. Maybe he's a legit bottom 6 player for us when folks get healthy.

I have a hard time figuring out how much of the fighting is Gabriel's fault but it's good to see the team not get pushed around. Dealing with a Dbag like Lucic is nice to see and Gabriel fought him really well. Not quite Cam Janssen crazy but Kurtis is a gamer.

Coleman is under contract for two more years at $1.8M. What a bargain.

Nice to see we're pretty competitive during the tank.
These kids that have been called up are gaining some valuable NHL experience.
So in many ways the tank is a win win for us!

If we dont pick in say top 2, would anyone be opposed to trading that 4-10 pick for an established young NHLer? Im sure Tampa has some great people they cant keep.

Top 10 seems to have a lot of good talent. My take is if they can't get Hughes or Kakko then Byram is my guy. He's on pace for 30 goals as a Dman.

I would contemplate it for the right player. Plenty of 4-10 busts, so trading for an established younger player certainly reduces your risk....but it also could limit your upside

I bet my friend $20 on last nights game and took the Devils. He gave me 2-1 odds. I just couldn't see the Devils laying down again after the beating they took in Calgary the night before. Also, the Oilers are really not good a good team outside of 2 players. So the win seemed like a given.

Didn't help the tank but hopefully it's helping Corey's confidence for next year.

I'm fairly confident they'll finish top 5 worst. Only way they don't is if the lottery screws them.

Another offseason trade proposal (especially if we get one of the top 2 picks):

Either Zacha or McLeod and Butcher for Trouba.

Right, I dont doubt they'll finish in the bottom 5 but the lottery can easily take us down a few notches.

Why would the Jets take that trade? Zacha and McLeod have proved nothing and look like they wont be anything better than 3rd line C's.

It's important to remember that based on the lottery structure that it is far more likely to move down than up. So basically expect to draft lower than your expected and be happy if you hold and ecstatic if you move up.

.

Definately not an option for the Jets. They already have one of the best bottom 6 forward groupings in the league. Thats why they let Petan go. The kid was shredding the AHL up, but just couldn't fit into any role with the club.

Now l would like to see Zacha and Mcleod round off our bottom 6 going into next season. I would also be happy to let Rooney, Pietella, Gabriel, Lappin, Stafford, and Noesen all walk comre free agency. All those boys have reached their peaks, and failed to impress. Lets get the kids some TOI please. I want to see more responsibility on Anderson, Quenneville, Mcleod, and Seney down the stretch.

Is it possible to have Ty Smith come finish the final 9 games with the club? I noticed his point production has plummeted over the past 5-6 weeks. When he left to play for the U21 world Juniors he was on pace to break 100 points, now he is pacing for about 79 points. Still respectable, but if having him play a few games with the Devs shows him the level he needs to elevate his game to, while not wasting a year on his entry level contract, then lets do it! Give him some summer training motivation.

I said the Jets because a salary cap crunch is coming. They need an affordable center (young and cost control) who can possibly play with Laine. Maybe Zacha or McLeod can fill that void. I think Winnipeg wants to spread the offense and remove Laine from Wheeler and Scheifele.

The Jets can't afford Trouba and I believe Trouba wants out; he's had contract negotiation problems with the Jets. Devils also give up Butcher in the deal and a possible draft pick.

In the end, one of Wood, Zacha, or McLeod needs to move. Especially if we get a top 3 pick who will most likely slot into the line-up right away.

Any other trade suggestions for the off-season?

The Jets have some big contracts to ink for sure, but also have the option of trading Kulikov (5M), Perrault (4.5M), and Little (5.85M) to accomodate any required cap hits. I also think Trouba is quite over-rated. He is a fantastic skater, but beyond that everything drops off. Takes way too many pims, and after 5 full NHL seasons, ammassed a career high 33 points. I feel he leaves alot to be desired, and our RHD is already fairly solid with Vats/Sev/Carrick.

I like the idea of trading cash for UFA's the very most. I honestly think our D is looking fairly solid, and wouldn't take any risks unless for a proven #1D, such as Karlsson.

This team desperately needs to add a top 6 Centre and RW. I think cap crunched teams are the best target. Depending on who we get in the Draft will adjust who we target, but I think Marchassault would be a great RW that would likely set the devils back 2 or their 2nd's from this draft. He is inked for another 5 seasons, and has put up 0.83 ppg and has a ton of speed. I doubt Anaheim would ever trade him, but Getz is still a beast, and has just 2 years after this season at 8.25M. Big cap hit but very affordable given the two year term. Realistically, I think Tyler Johnson would be virtually free, and has the speed and skill to be a solid 2C

Ideally, we do not sign Mojo, as we inked Panarin to a 6 year, 9.5M AAV deal
Ideally, we sign Karlsson to a 6 year 10M AAV

Realistically, we do nothing, or trade for players like Marchessault and Johnson to shore up our greatest weaknesses.
