Contact before that was lower ... the follow through goes to the back of the head as Mantha goes down. If Mantha didn't like it square up with him, don't cross check him into the boards.

Yeah he hit him in the head. Don't do that if you don't want your face plastered to the glass.

Ok then why were neither suspended? Why do some clear headshots go unsuspended? The DoPS is broken, and not just for the flyers. As long as they continue to punish result rather than intent, it will always be a clown show. I really think the players should be asking for an overhaul of the DoPS in the next CBA

Cause the NHL is stupid and heavily factors in result of injury.

You missed my point I think. Whining about the Mantha hit was silly if you don't also have an issue with what Giroux did before that. I think any and all head contact should be penalized.

Sure, and he made no effort to play the puck and injured a guy in the process. Hence the two game suspension. I'm not really understanding why so many people can't grasp the notion that facts are the only things relevant in these hearings.

Opinions and speculation about things that didn't happen are irrelevant. Have whatever opinion you want, but if you're surprised that the league didn't change their ruling because Boychuk, who has exactly zero suspensions ever, may have boarded him from behind then I can't help you.

If players are allowed to cause injury to guys they perceive might hurt them then I'm sure you won't complain if someone preemptively tomahawks a cro magnon knuckle-dragger like Gudas directly in the face because that's a guy with a long history of dangerous, stupid plays.

You're 100% correct about this. No doubt. The issue I have is actions by other players that I believe are worse actions resulted in less games or no suspension.

What Giroux did was a penalty and doesn't come close to being suspension worthy. What Mantha did is suspension worthy.

Watched the Boychuk hit over and over and I just cant seem to grasp how its 2 game suspension worthy Not trying to look through Flyers goggles or anything but JB's momentum was a part of it, He was looking for a hit and Jake got the best of him, Hockey play Didnt think it was all that dirty Lord knows this year weve seen plenty worse without even a 2 minute penalty let alone 5 minutes and 2 games.

Can't say I agree with the Voracek suspension, but nice to see the precedent being upheld by the on ice officials who gave Brendan Lemieux a match penalty tonight. Add on a game or 2 suspension and maybe it will be the start of some real consistency from DoPS.
