That changes the fact that Mantha made a dangerous play and should have been suspended how?

Did you watch the hit? It wasnt a headshot. It was shoulder to shoulder. The injury was to boychuks shoulder. He was holding it the entire time
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Yes. Yes it was. Just watched it again. Definitely a head shot. It’s not an opinion.

Both of these calls are BS. Boychuck sold that one, he even puts his hand up to brace for contact. Any idiot can see that.
Eichels was in front of the Avs player, that is a hockey play that happens many times a game.

The question that needs to be asked is, How much has Malkin paid off the DOPS? Here is a player that needs to sit, yet he is clean in the DOPS books.

Salty? Youre getting smoked by one of the teams that will be your demise, Im loving this! Better bring that same energy when youre sulking over another early exit bubs

Its working out great, Drouin career year where as Sergachev is barely cracking the top 6. Cernak came in and took his spot easily

Hows that Jake Muffin trade working out?

Actually for Malkin its all on Bettman going back to the lifting of Malkins suspensions in the 09 finals..starting a fight in the last 5 minutes of a game and jersey not tied down. The spastic weasel skates in his chair as a fan of the Pens in those days..Of course there are probably Russian Mafia operatives getting a cut of his pay glaring at league officials

I doubt Voracek meant to hurt Boychuk and it’s unfortunate but it’s kind of a weird play because he has his back to the incoming player. Maybe he thought Boychuk was lining him up and just misjudged the situation because he looked to have put himself in position to just absorb and counter the hit. It just ends up a bad situation because he winds up nailing Boychuk in the head. I think there’s definitely a case for suspension here but maybe 1 game. The league is taking any kind of contact to the head very serious which is why they gave him 2 games

If you had a clue, I’d be inclined to debate you. Look no further than half of the arenas in the league are half empty when they were always SRO. The teams marketing dept’s call me and kiss my a$$ to renew season tix. Most of the tix today are corporate owned, and given to employees and clients whom are not rabid fans. Add in the expansion fees the league has been getting, and it’s fools gold. League can’t support anymore teams. The only big revenue they’ll have is transfer fees from subpar markets. I’m not old chump. I’m just old enough to remember some great fun and rivalries when you were in grammar school. If you’re going to argue economics, and policy, you need to bring more the table than you’re old.
- Hokeeguy9

All time high merchandise sales, highest viewer ratings overall, expanded markets, contracts being handed out like high priced candy. Listen, guy. You can spout how you get called by the ticket office, I get called by them too for Nashville. It’s their job to ask and sometimes beg. The market has grown and people want more fast paced skilled hockey than they want the Scott Stevens and Marty McSorley crap of the past.

So... I'm trying my hardest NOT to see things through rose tinted fan goggles, and I'm REALLY trying hard to see this for what it is.

What I need is someone to explain how Eichel's hit on Soderberg was dirty or targeting his head. I mean this is literally what I'm seeing in the slow mo playback:

Eichel sees Soderberg coming in for the puck, Eichel is going in for the puck as well, and is attempting to block Soderberg from making a play. Soderberg is low, reaching forward, Eichel is parallel to Soderberg now.

I do see Eichel's right arm leave his stick and due to the angle of the camera in the slow mo shot, I cant see if Eichel's elbow connects with Soderbergs body, but I know the only part of Eichel Soderberg's head connects with is the back of his ribcage, about 6 inches from the 9 on the back of his jersey.

I cant tell where Eichel's arm hits because the only forward facing angles are too quick.

I'm not trying to defend him or be all angry fan or anything. I'm really not. In fact, I'm certain Eichel meant to make the hit count as a statement.

But Soderberg essentially skated headfirst into an oncoming player, the point of contact to Soderbergs head being Eichel's back.

Can someone please correct me on what I'm seeing wrong?

First, I meant to write champ, not chump. Wasn’t trying to be a Richard. Second, I still disagree. McSorely couldn’t play worth a sh!t. Stevens was a terrific defenseman for the Devils. And third, think about what you said. Expanded markets? That’s over. 32 teams is the max the league can support. The 500 million for the Knights, and 650 Seattle expansion will be spent by the owner like drunken sailors. Hence the cap goes up, and so do the contracts. Increased teams in new cities, means more interest from more people who watch on TV. This brings up the point no one seems to answer. Ticket prices on the secondary market are in the toilet, and half of the arenas are empty. Teams only play natural rivalries 4 times a year, as opposed to the 6 times a year previously. Would you rather see Nashville play a team in their own division, or someone from another conference? That’s another issue. Lastly, I’m not advocating goon hockey. I’m advocating tough, hard nosed, let two guys have at it hockey, along with the skilled, fast, and knock you into next week players. Just look at the fans in arenas, when two guys drop the gloves. It goes crazy. It doesn’t mean let’s stage two guys who can’t play, fight. It means you have to pay for cheap sh!t you do. I see nothing wrong with that. I guess you and can agree to disagree, but at least I have seen enough of both sides to form my opinions, and enough empty seats in arenas to justify them.

Btw, Nashville is a great market, and well run team. One of my top three. Just hope they get their sh!t together, once the playoffs start.

Really though Giroux gave Mantha a forearm to the back of the head first. So it is funny how the PHI fans keep bringing Mantha up.

I totally disagree with you on both.

Eichel skates straight to the boards. He doesn't lean into the skater. He doesn't lift his shoulders or come off of his skates. The fact the skater ducks down is his responsibility. Plus Eichel is trying to play the puck. I don't think there should have been a suspension.

Vorachek is totally different. The puck at most is 2 feet past the goal line. Vorachek is at the wall by face off dot. He is not even looking at the puck. He isn't bracing himself for a hit. He is leaning up trying to give a hit to a player racing to get the puck. Boychuk isn't leaning over. First contact is to the head with the puck nowhere near. He deserves suspension and maybe more than 2.

Actually, first contact is with his hand as he braces for contact.
