However I do believe having the big guy that will at least fight the other big guy does have positive influence to a hockey teams atmosphere. Happy workplace is a good work place. |

Wilson is the reincarnation of Tom Kuhnackl - j.boyd919
Tom Kuhnhackl is a better hockey player than anyone on our current fourth line, so is that s good or bad thing? I think everyone thinks Cullen magically got way worse st hockey over two years while still training and playing. I think he gelled well with Kuhnhackl and he got good tangible results because of it. |

Like it or not the Cooke to savard hit at that time wasnt considered a big deal. Beyond a possible elbow it was.par.for the course in the nhl. There were many many many hits like this that caused serious injury that were applauded by many fans and hockey ppl(cherry). For better it has changed..not enough honestly. No one will.defend Cooke in the context of what we know now...but to rewrite history like you all are is a joke. most of the hockey world said keep.your head on a swivel or keep.your head up for eons. To suggest otherwise is a joke. Please stop bullying ppl in this thread. Makes it horrid. - taleisyreXIII
Correct. On top of that everyone on this board now acts as if they hated Cooke and claim he’s an embarrassment to the penguins meanwhile when he played for us he was a part of what was considered the best 3rd line in the NHL and pens fans constantly made excuses for his actions |

Cullen was already playing noticeably worse by the half way point of his second season here. Otherwise, this is a fantastic troll post. Tommy Kuhnhackl carrying the fourth line is an awesome take. |

I love waking up to two absolute drubbings on a Saturday morning. I’m guessing that the cellies weren’t on display for the Canes/Whalers last night... |

Don Cherry did not applaud that hit at all. I've watched him numerous times talk about it or bringing up how Savards career is over and then bring up Cooke in a very negative way. Yeah Hunwick hit was the last one for Savard but Cooke's is the one that put him in outerspace for a very long time. It wasnt a check. There was no attempt to check. It was a blindsided head hunting elbow. Don Cherry hated it and he hated Cooke. It was a big deal, maybe not as big of a deal as would be today, (everything is a bigger deal these days), but its still considered one of the more malicious hits in the history of the league.
Talk about rewriting history hahah. Even if it wasnt frowned upon back then (it was) what the (frank) does that change about how bad it was? You can justify it with all the crap you've said?
Most Pens fans thought Cooke was a peice poop but were glad he wasn't a piece of poop on the opposing team night in and out.

I view Cooke as I did Steve Downie (in regards to ones we had here for a shortish time)... talented player who could have been really great if they'd stop doing all the stupid poop. |

Yup. Good players with a sadistic side. Earlier versions of Tom Wilson. |

I think I heard somewhere that Murray said he’d play both, not sure if the coach agrees |

I believe Sully is going to ride Murray as long as he says he is good to go. Sully wants him to make himself the clear #1 goalie and its been quite successful recently. |

Random thought, but I think when Letang is healthy the Pens should have both Letang and Schultz at the top. Phil, Sid and Geno down low with Letang and Schultz at the top.
Yes, I know what you'll say...
- But but, net front presence
- They're both righties
While having net-front-presence is great for a PP, it's not necessary. A PP that keep themselves mobile opens up the space they need. Having two dmen like them up top can really make a lot of space for Phil and Geno on the half-wall with Sid doing his magic down low.
I firmly believe the Pens PP has become very predictable which has led teams to know how to get those short-handed attempts. |

Why would you start DeSmith tonight, makes no sense. Starting your best goalie on the front end of a back statistically gives you the best chance to win. Also, which game is more important, against Columbus, a team your fighting a playoff spot for being up only by 4 points, making tonight a 4 point game. Or a team that is not in your division, not fighting for a playoff spot against. and is the 2nd game of a back to back. |

Boston is a far superior team to CBJ and currently the hottest team in the NHL. Do you want your back-up or starter against them? |

As a person who used to firmly believe that the PP didn't need Hornqvist, the numbers with him on vs him off are stark, and I also think having two guys on the blue line on the PP neuters a lot of the fire power and push everything to the perimeter (which we all know is bad). I think this would be a coward's move that's only purpose is to appease the "We give up too many breaks on the PP" crowd. |
