I read Ray Ray never offered MoJo and extension and both of them were on the same page as far as trading him. I wouldn't count on him coming back. We'll see.

The return for Mojo was fair. Ray can't rape the other GM's every time and he did get Sweeny to overpay on the Stempniak trade. So in this trade it was a little more equitable. Surprised we ended up eating 40% salary, but whatever it takes.

More concerning is the fact the team looks like complete mess right now and the lineup is train wreck. Wish we could resign Yakovlev now and maybe trade for Brenan Lemieux in the off season. Just for fun.

Couldn't agree more with you Todd

Those points were spot on. You never know what goes on behind the scenes on these trades. Sometimes a team will take a lesser return if they know that there is a better chance their guy will be used solely as a rental, or simply to keep that player out of their division.

Regardless, great trades. And don't be suprised if our 5th rd pick turns into a stud. We seem better at drafting in the later rounds.

QUEENIE (because the quotes never work on this site)

Where'd you read that?

Question: does anyone know what happened to Hall injury wise?

Hi. I read about Mojo here:

https://www.nj.com/expo/s...rom-ray-sheros-moves.html

NJ.com is a good site for a lot of things about the state.

The Quotes do work if you hit the flag key first. Which probably means I'm flooding the arbitrators with lots of completely appropriate posts to read.... but (frank) them. They need to make this site work better or suffer the consequences.

I haven't even heard a whisper about what Hall's injury is. Just LBI. I'm old enough that I remember when the teams would post accurate information. Eventually they started getting quiet in the playoffs because players would target your injury. Now you can miss most of the season and people still won't say anything. Funny part is after the playoffs you always get some odd report about how hurt guys were and who's having surgery.

Pretty surprised how much it was debated whether Ray should keep MoJo or trade him. My take is for as well as he has been playing lately, and I know there were a lot of injuries, but my goodness this is the only 10 game stretch in 2 years we have gotten anything out of him. I am one NOT for bringing him back!!

Why not bring him back? He pretty muched recouped what we gave to get him, and can sign him for something in the area of 4 years at 5M AAV most likely. He was our best LW, and without him, leaves Bratt and Coleman in the top two slots. We already are desperate for a RW, lets not add LW if Mojo is fine with returning.

It's just this team is so limited in true top quality forwards it's hard to see another one leave. I think Ray Ray did the right thing but our lineup is kinda ugly. There is no real replacement in house and we haven't done dinky doo in free agency.

In exactly 190 games as a Devil, Lovejoy tallied 22 points. At 35 years old, how the heck did we get Carrick who in just 15 games has 6 points, which has him passing the 22 point plateau after 54 games. This kid seems like a quality bottom pairing D. Maybe:

Butch Vats
Smith Severson
Yak Carrick

(Santini and Greene as healthy scratch to start) Kind of pushed Mueller, Gryba, and Murphy clean out the door, but something has to give. Tho maybe keep Murphy in Bing to see what he can do. We're saturated with decent bottom pairing D that could play on other squads. Especially a team like toronto desperate for RD.

Other team embracing the tank much better than us. And rags as depleted as they are now will be joining shortly. Pick #10 or later does not move the needle near enough.

I have a feeling they're going to let Yak go. Which I don't agree with but for some reason they don't want to give him a fair shake. Seems like he produces when he does play.

It sucks. They're playing like they're on a mission thanks to hynes. LA, Ottawa, Detroit and NY really are that bad. Edmonton ha no excuse. What a joke of a franchise.

The thing is the players will always give 110%, because they have contracts to play for. Its their way of life. And Hynes is the coach that needs to keep improving the team. Its up to Shero (and a little Hynes) to dress players that suck or young kids. But they did dress lots of young kids and we still won. This is a good thing.

Yes we might not end up with Kakko but on the flip, if our young kids like Mcleod, Bastian, Zacha, if they develop well then we are set.

Yak was hitting for a point a game in the Bing and was like #2 in total points which is absurd for a defenseman. Not sure what their issue with him is. It almost reminds me of the Anton Stralman thing when the Devils wouldn't give him a contract and had him on perpetual try out. The Rags signed him and he played so well for them they traded him to Tampa for assets. Just a complete goat (frank) on our part.

Unfortunately the Rangers being the idiots they are, opted to sign Dan Boyle over Stralman in FA. Probably our biggest blunder and one of the contributing reasons we lost to Tampa in the ECF.
