Next year is cap hell. Would have been nice for Toronto to get that D man if possible - so what if it costs you KK or Johanson - Going to have to cut the money next year somehow - take your shot this year.
But....having said that - should be a fun playoff season. Get past Boston and then anything is possible. |

I like the trade. I don't know a lot about petan other than he was a stud on the world juniors a few years ago, not sure what happened in the peg but we know the kid can play. Lindholm on the other hand was never going to be much on the leafs so not really giving up much, potentially it is a low risk, high reward trade |

The nice thing about this trade is that Petan is an RFA after the season and Lindholm is a UFA. If for whatever reason the change of scenery for Petan works out and he gets the scoring touch he had in junior back it gives the leafs some flexibility to move a winger from the roster in the summer. They have an NHL proven (somewhat) winger ready to come into the lineup. I cant imagine his next contract this summer will be much at all |
