You know, I really feel that could give them a nice kick. I think the Pens have a great cast of characters being mismanaged. For example JJ is a major weak link but another coach might not even dress him. Unfortunately, I just don't see Sullivan going anywhere this season. I think for Sullivan to go they'd have to be doing terrible a ways into next season...that might do it but who knows with GMJR.

Yeah I agree. I think a coaching change with a new perspective is exactly what we need. New coach either buries JJ with like 10 mins TOI or just flat out scratches him. I don’t recall Vigneault making boneheaded lineup decisions and he probably deserves a ton of credit for finding soooo many matching wingers for the Sedins

Do we NEED a top 6 winger? I don’t think so. I think we’d all be more comfortable with one - but I really feel a new perspective would go a lot further

Looks like Hornie on top line and Wilson in for Simon.

Yeah... Honestly, the Pens should be better than they are, but I don't see the energy out of this team to win 4 series. So I agree. Stand pat and regroup after the season.

I agree with this. There isnt a player available that I think even puts the Penguins in the discussion for the Cup. Too many passengers, too much disconnect between the coach and GM.

The Penguins fate will be determined by how Malkin, Murray, Kessel, & Hornqvist play. If those guys can get back to their normal levels... the Penguins have a chance. If those guys continue to play at below their average, there is no one the Penguins can get to fix that. Keep your 1st. It is a deep draft and youre missing a 2nd & 3rd pick (unless Sheary gets certain stats, cannot remember what they are).

There is a big disconnect between Sullivan and Rutherford. It's been going since the summer 2017. When a disconnect exists, the GM wins virtually everytime, including when the coach is vastly superior to the GM such as in Chicago when Joel Quenville got fired.

Sullivan clearly wants to be that fast team. The problem is that Rutherford has traded all of our speed on the wing such as Hagelin & Sheary and replaced them with guys like Pearson & Bjugstad. Johnson cannot play the style Sully wants to play and Rutherford knew that and signed him anyway.

I think Sullivan is the right coach. I think he is a good coach. Personally, Recchi hasnt done it for me as an assistant. Doesnt seem like the presence that Rick Tocchet was. Something has to change though with this coach/GM problem because neither of them are on the same page.

Hardly any bounce on the puck tonight and you can see that it has friction from the rain water on the ice. Not moving near as fast.

Before I even got to your second paragraph I was already thinking about how much HCMS plays JJ. I would be willing to bet that at least 9 out of 10 coaches in the league would drop his minutes and would’ve scratched him by now. Sullivan hasn’t done that. Has failed to get many of his stars going. What’s going for him right now? His top line which boasts one of the best tandems in the league

40 points or 20 goals I believe. Agree, he’s not getting there

Side note: these J’s are solid

I said to a friend on the phone earlier that if the Pens all make it out of this injury free it'll be a win in itself.

I have to disagree. Very few NHL coachs would sit a NHL guy like Johnson, especially in his first season after signing a big contract. No coach is going to show his GM up like that. I dont disagree with you at all, Johnson is horrible. I would rather have the cap money back and have Chad Ruhwedel play every night. You'll get similar production.

I dont get what you want him to do to get Kessel & Malkin going. Hornqvist I think he has mismanaged, but I dont think Horny fits in the top 6 anymore which is a big problem given his contract.

I hold Rutherford far more responsible for the state of the team than Sullivan.

Is that a soft goal... or just a 'goal scorers goal'? Cause that looked like a damn good and hard shot...

Good thing Sully isn’t playing Teddy...wouldn’t want someone who has the ability to score when you can ice Pearson!

Yup. Pens are dominating. That line has been good.
