Reaves trade value has probably gone up, GMJR traded him on the cheap

He's gonna have 10 goals, 20ish points, only 75 PIMS this year (so, he's not running around like a goon) all with 4th line minutes (11 minutes per night)

Thats some pretty nice production for a guy on the 4th line with those intangibles

And hes the only guy in the league who can Fvcking dummy Wilson. Sully is an idiot these days he rather play Cullen who's 50. At least kuhnackl would work the boards and grind a cycle, too much one and done these days

That's not enough cap going the other way. Also, a first , a top six forward with term, and a top end prospect.... and all you get is Green and Nyquist. No cranking way.
The biggest move they can make is bringing in one more legit top 6 LW to play with Geno. Pearson, ZAR, and Simon rotating wont cut it.

Depends on how long Maatta is out and if DET retains some on Nyquist, I believe. I like the idea of Nyquist on Malkin’s wing for the next few years. I don’t like the Phil/Geno combo. I liked the RBK line and felt that they should’ve gotten a look as the 3rd line once Geno came back. See if Geno can jump start Hornqvist. Gives you a couple options to rotate on left wing. Definitely need to sort it out sooner rather than later

I didn’t watch the last game. Would anyone care to summarize quickly how each line looked?

Maatta is only on IR, there is no cap relief from him. And I think moving Hornqvist just to acquire a UFA isn't helping.

Also, I think Hornqvist is back with Sid tonight? Someone tweeted that yesterday.

Dude... Lucky you. One of the worst games of the season. All I can remember was nobody could pass or take a pass. Kind of surprised nobody got an ankle broken by all the passes into someones feet. Both Kessel and Crosby had point blank chances and attempted passes. It was almost like somebody drugged them.

That sucks. Watching the Pens lose doesn’t stress me out at all. Watching awful plays really does. I watched TO come play AZ last week (and I’m going to see Doan’s Jersey retired tomorrow) and by far the most notable plays were Reilly leaving Chucky open back door for the re-direct and Matthews letting his guy cruise right past him to get an uncontested rebound and tap it into the vacant cage. Just terrible

This team needs to stand pat, they are far from 1 move to be relevant in a cup chase. At the moment they are nearing being outside a playoff position with Carolina winning. There’s no one who can make a substantial difference that the team can afford.

Any toughness comments or direction changes should require Sully being fired first. They had a great tough guy who could’ve added mire offense than half our 4th line and a few 1st & 2nd liners in Reaves...I would’ve loved to see what would’ve happened with this team if they kept him (not for deterrence but for chemistry) and either slapped or fired sully into cognitive thinking.

take kessel off that list
kessel, despite his rut, as a 31 yo ppg player for only 3 more seasons at 6.8mm without any injury history is a (frank)ing stud. he's not the reason the pens are no longer 15-16 material. that has more to do with the lack of quality depth (as you mentioned pearson/JJ)

- DeflatedPucks

Kessel got off to a good start this season but has been invisible for over two months. His stats for the year are okay given his good start, but I am not confident in him at all. If the Pens get a good offer for him this offseason, they have to take it.

A lot of the Penguins problems are self inflicted and wont be fixed unless it changes from within. The Pens arent a trade any from being SC contenders. They arent contenders unless Malkin, Kessel, and Horny get going. I blame Sully for Horny, but no doubt the three of them have not gotten the job done this season.

I say we need to trade Johnson or buy him out, but I know they wont until Rutherford is gone or his contract expires.

That's fine. I'm just saying you find a way to make a profound difference or don't do it at all.

Bring in Alain Vigneault to replace Sullivan, says I. Let him keep Martin and Rex. Vigneault, much like Martin is a very structured coach. He’s big on defense first with a quick transition game. Seems to me like we’ve got the skill to be a solid transition team but I don’t care for how we play defensively. When was the last time Vigneault coached a poor defensive team? He always had a knack for creating chemistry with his teams in Vancouver and NYR as well

They're making the kind of moves that will really electrify a team.

I'm gonna repeat myself from earlier, but moves like this make me want the Pens to not make any moves. It's going to do no good unless they make a major move to upgrade 3rd pairing RD and top-six winger

You know, I really feel that could give them a nice kick. I think the Pens have a great cast of characters being mismanaged. For example JJ is a major weak link but another coach might not even dress him. Unfortunately, I just don't see Sullivan going anywhere this season. I think for Sullivan to go they'd have to be doing terrible a ways into next season...that might do it but who knows with GMJR.

Looks like Hornie on top line and Wilson in for Simon.

Yeah... Honestly, the Pens should be better than they are, but I don't see the energy out of this team to win 4 series. So I agree. Stand pat and regroup after the season.
