For all the buy out talk at the beginning of the thread, will someone please tell me the last time management bought out a player. I'll wait.

Yes, Letang will be hard to replace but the scary thing is, even without him they are probably still good enough to get into the playoffs. Problem is that a team like Tampa will crush them in 4 or 5.

Id much rather keep the first and trade Kessel to the Preds for Fabbro, Tolvanen and a first. Send Pearson to the Sens with a mid rounder to help then hit the floor.
I wouldn't push to trade him but I'd even dangle Bjugstad out there and see if anyone will overpay to keep up in the arms race.

Get all of your young guys like Blueger, Simon, Prow and any top prospects you get in trades and make a run at it with them. Then be sure not to blow it this year in free agency.

It is the best time to get the highest return for players. I think if we find out Letang and Dumo are out long term you shut it down. Maybe put Hornqvist's name out there and even Kessel and see what you can get. I wouldn't take picks. I would be looking for young promising NHL players and good prospects. I agree let the young guys get a chance. Prow was killing it in WBS and not even one opportunity for a call up since Maatta went down. Or even when Schultz was out. These coaches and JR need to stop the BS bias/favoritism and let the best players be out on the ice. Then in the offseason bring in some star talent through free agency and trades. I would try to load up the top 2 lines with stars and let the lower lines be younger cheaper hungry players which we already have waiting in the wings.

Dumo out with a concussion, no one knows how long them last. Haven't heard about Letang yet. That leaves five healthy defense, someone will be called. Or Traded.

The only person I hope we trade for is McQuaid defenseman wise and I would hope it would be a 4th and a lower end player for him. Maybe Mcquaid and Namestnikov for Pearson, Blandisi, and a 4th

They played a great game last night dealing with losing their top pair. Tough luck on the last two goals. This team isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people are acting like. Too much emotion involved analysing this team after loses hahah.

Not gonna lie, when they declared Dumo had a concussion and Letang had upper body I’m immediately thinking issue with his neck again. This may and possibly should be it for Letang...stroke, multiple concussions, neck surgery and now another possible neck injury. I fear for his health long term. This league is an absolute disaster...and truthfully I’m losing interest rapidly.

I’m tired of the NhLpa fighting to keep useless people in the league at the detriment of skilled players. Do they think we want to watch a glorified beer league? I want to see the McDavids against the Matthews against the Crosby’s against the Malkin, etc. I wouldn’t lose sleep not seeing these D level players who agitate and Levy big hits...maybe I’m Soff and I guess I’m okay with that, because for my money I’d rather see Letang play hockey than Simmons run around and be a tough guy. If I have that urge there’s always the ufc.

That's what it looked like when he got horese collared. Really hope it's nothing serious for the sake of his long term health.

I think you’re right, which was obviously why he got the extra penalty...you can’t get horse collared it’s a 2 minute minor

Why not? Just Pittsburgh Paranoia, that's all. We win we are the greatest. We lose we suck.

Simmonds is far from a D level player are you for real. You would be ecstatic if he was on the Pens. Plus the hit was legal and Letang got hurt when he and Ghost hit the ice. Ghost is hardly a goon.
He’s not been good this year but he is also not a D level player.

Agree to disagree! For the record, as I’ve said numerous times, I would never want Simmonds on the Penguins...

Wrong. There’s no such thing as a legal check when you jump into the hit and your skates come off the ice. This is exactly the kind of hit the league is trying to remove

Guess it's easy to say that the Pens aren't looking at Simmonds anymore. It might be fair to say they aren't looking at anyone now that Letang and Dumolin are out.
I think the Blue jackets are gonna take it this year with the additions of Dzingal and Duchene.
