Murray didnt even line up for the handshake. Gutless pos. Honestly...heading to the locker room so you can figure out who u can blame for those two beauties at the end of the game.

Honestly want this (frank) gone.

Trade the damn first for a goalie.

This team without those deflating goals and even just slightly better tending would have them hanging with the isles for first.

You can't give up a first for someone like Howard though. Can't do that. Give it to Desmith. Let Murray sit and let the chips fall where they may.

I think no rental player fixes this even if Letang and Dumo are fine for the next game. The Penguins problems are internal. They arent missing pieces, their pieces are just missing the level they need to play at. Malkin, Hornqvist, & Kessel at least didnt look lost tonight. Murray continues to struggle. We can acquire all five of TSN's Best Players Available at the Deadline... it wont fix the underlying problem. This game confirmed to us what a lot of us were already seeing... this team has no resilience or situational mindset. They continue to just try to outgun teams rather than playing smart. Icing the puck after your center wins a faceoff in your own zone is just stupid. Cullen taking a penalty late in the 3rd period is just stupid. These guys have been around long enough to know better. Nothing we have seen lately shows us that this team does not have it this year.

We have had it every year for the last few years, we were bound to have a questionable year like this. Schultz missing months hurt this team also. If they get even 4 more points with him in the lineup during Nov/Dec/Jan, you have a whole new situation playoff wise. That is not an excuse because our problems are deeper than that, but it is important to note.

To me, you play the rest of this year out. No trade is going to put you over the edge. If you go dumpster diving within the last 30 minutes and grab a body for a late round pick or mid/low level prospect, that's fine. Absolutely do not trade your first round pick, do not trade any decent prospects (all 1-2 of them), and just focus on what is going wrong with your team. At the end of the day, this team will not win if their current line up doesnt change and get better. No trade fixes that problem.

Maybe I’m delusional but I don’t think the roster as constructed is that far off if everyone is healthy, properly slotted, and locked in. If the pens had a healthy letang, dumo, Schultz, matttaa, and used their first for muzzin, they would have had great puck moving on all pairs. It would have been tough but with Crosby and Malkin you make that shot.

Now, sans letang and dumo using your first for some jerkoff slow bottom pairing left handed plodding defenseman which is inevitably going to happen is going To suck

Sure but the first means poop to this team...look what they did to sprong. We have 4 to 6 years honestly to make hay with a cup run or two. A first this season does nothing to help that. Unless ur gonna ask this team to tank and lose all games(I dont wanna hear or go through that again),the first is useless.

Agree with your thought on the first. But if letang is out long term it’s a dead season anyway. What they pulled off that year without him is irrelevant. I also think four to six is very generous

4 to 6 is the sid geno era..they can win with them any given year depending on the supporting cast. But no team is winning anything with a goalie like ours. It's been an issue since b4 this season. Murray has been exposed badly and survives...barely...on positioning and defenders blocking shots. Go back and watch some.of those cup runs. Those teams bailed him out blocking shots like nobodies business. There were signs even in success if you wanted to see them...most ppl saw cups and banners.

I agree with you, man. I think this is more of a coaching deal. We’ve played multiple different styles under Sully. He just said not long ago that he was going to change how we play. Have we gotten great results from it? My opinion is no. Even Willie Desjardins got some pretty darn decent results and that LA roster is both underwhelming and underperforming

Something that concerns me. Why aren’t more people mad about HOW Letang got hurt. Why is anyone grabbing a guy and taking him down when he’s vulnerable ok? All these gloved punches after the whistle, too. What other sport are these not penalties/fouls. Doctors tell me I should never play again. I got zero concussions from fighting in hockey and I had 6 fights my 20 year old year alone including getting my eyes punched shut fighting the league heavyweight at the end of the year lol. Keep fighting in the game, keep clean hits, start weeding out all of this garbage in between the whistles. I still coach - what kind of example is this setting for kids? An awful one imo

What would Ott want for Nilsson I wonder? Not like I've seen him play a lot but he seems to always play the Pens well.

In 6 of his last 8 starts DeSmith has had a SV% of under .900. Murray's numbers are much better since he's come back. That's not to say that I wasn't pissed off at him tonight. That tying goal was just horrendous.

They played a great game last night dealing with losing their top pair. Tough luck on the last two goals. This team isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people are acting like. Too much emotion involved analysing this team after loses hahah.

Murray has not been great, but let's not overreact to a bad goal or two when they are playing outdoors in rain.

The game shouldn't happen in the rain. Playing 60+ minutes in freezing cold, water logged gear is brutal. Wont be surprised to hear a bunch of guys come out of this game sick and have to sit a few.

Yes, Letang will be hard to replace but the scary thing is, even without him they are probably still good enough to get into the playoffs. Problem is that a team like Tampa will crush them in 4 or 5.

Id much rather keep the first and trade Kessel to the Preds for Fabbro, Tolvanen and a first. Send Pearson to the Sens with a mid rounder to help then hit the floor.
I wouldn't push to trade him but I'd even dangle Bjugstad out there and see if anyone will overpay to keep up in the arms race.

Get all of your young guys like Blueger, Simon, Prow and any top prospects you get in trades and make a run at it with them. Then be sure not to blow it this year in free agency.

And the quick whistle last game taking a goal away.

The Flyers got the make up call when Malkin got five and Raffl got zero. I didn't see the Pens get a make up for the Cullen "seriously you called that" penalty.
