What a gong show. I might be in the minority, but I feel it’s insulting to fans to sit players who are perfectly healthy to play, even if they will be traded in 24 hours. I see the side where you don’t want to have them injured, but geezz.
While Melnyk is running the show, but it’s embarrassing that Dorion is trying to fit a year’s worth of work into one week. Stone and Duchene decisions should have been decided ages ago. What does the guy even do the rest of the year?

probably rotates around on melnyk's junk
as for sitting players out.....i would agree if you were sitting them out at home, where your fans paid money to see them play.
in this case, who gives a poop about the NJ fans. i'd much rather protect the assets than care about what players they get to see live. |

Well if New Jersey came to Ottawa and was benching Hall in prep for a trade in 3 days and I was paying for a Sens game, I’d be a little annoyed. People pay to watch guys like Stone and Duchene, even if they are the visiting team.
I don’t know, there’s a penalty for a player skipping the all-star game (suspension) maybe there should be a penalty for a team sitting perfectly healthy players for no justifiable cause.
This is just more Richarding around by a joke of an organization. Make your trade already. I don’t think I have ever heard of 3 guys sitting 1 game in prep of the deadline.

1. i'd be annoyed too, but i dont' think NJ would care what ottawa fans thought...nor should they
2. the all star game is meaningless.......getting a player injured right before the TDL could literally alter the course of a franchise....not comparable |

I think the Sens have managed all season to try and achieve this result.
I don't disagree with the rebuild. And, I can accept that going all in is the best way to do it. But, I also think Sens fans are hockey wise and they are going to resent being rooted around for nearly a full season.
My best guess is the deals are all in place and they are waiting to stage manage the role out on what they have done in an attempt to minimize the hurt and blow back they get from fans. |

To be fair, those fans in New Jersey probably aren't going to see Mark Stone & Ryan Dzingle play anyways. They are solid players but your average fan has no idea who they are. ALSO, tickets to that game are $6 on stubhub. $6!!!! That is astronomically low.
At least it is not as bad as Anthony Davis in the NBA. He plays zero back to back games because he is going to be moved in the off season. |

Have big name rentals ever returned something significant, in terms of prospect? |

Stone and Duchene both scratched.....both will be traded. Obviously we knew duchene but I wanted them to re-sign Stone.
I hate this (frank)ing team. |

Ouch. As a Pens fan this reminds me of the time when Pittsburgh traded Jagr. It was an ugly 5 years and took a few miracles just to keep the team.
Best of luck

This coincides with what you said earlier, about TSN strong arming the Senators in to not trading anyone until Monday. It was a ridiculous thing to suggest then and still is now. How asinine would it look if one of the players sustained an injury outside of hockey which caused the partner to back out of this preordained trade? |

I know this is a hard day for many fans.
But we still have a way to go until we hit bottom. Probably draft day will be the low point.
I hope there is a consensus on what needs to happen going forward.
Does anybody believe that anything can change unless we have a change in ownership?.

I'm telling you,
You become immune to the disappointment with this team.
Doesn't even faze me.
Let's just hope the return puts a stop to the bleeding |

The worst thing to happen tonight would be to win 5-1 or so. Because management IS dumb enough to think that that would mean we don't need Duchene, Stone, and Dzingel. I hope we get hammered 10-0.
LET'S GO DEVILS!!!
Edit: Losing horrible would also add to proving their worth to other teams. |
