How big of a boner does tanner have for the leafs. No way bruins beat the leafs In round one? Really wat have the leafs done to show that they can beat the bruins. Even Mike from buffalo thinks leafs will lose to bruins. The best thing leads can do is rest players and goalie and get the first wild card and play the other division. Stay away from bruins and Tampa.

Using the words "Tanner" and "boner" in the same sentence is very appropriate.

Agree with Tanner, except for the first round thing. Bergeron renders Matthews useless. In a 7 game series the Bruins will take it and run.

Yeah.. Bruins will automatically lose to the Leafs??? Based on what exactly... that tremendous run the Leafs have been on recently.. Especially now that Kads got KO'd by Dunn... Sometimes James you just really go off the rails on some of these rants.

Any minute now, Tanner will post a video link to a washed-up alternative band that will bring his rantings into focus. Just wait...

I don't know, something like adding Tavares and Muzzin comes to mind.

Matthews peripheral numbers were very good last year in the playoffs, but he only had four percent shooting. I think it's a bit early to give Bergeron this much credit.

Yes, I honestly hate this trade because I feel like it makes the Bruins better. The last thing I want to see is a better Bruins team in a first round matchup. It's a series that could truly go either way. Another one of Tanner's wild ramblings.

I think a Bruins/Leafs series would be close, just like others before but in no way do I think the Leafs would even come close to walking all over the Bruins. Both teams styles are way different and Bruins just seem to have that psychological edge on the Leafs more than anything. Leafs always seem intimidated by them especially in there house.

The Leafs were doing everything in their power to get him away from that line last year.

The Bruins will most certainly lose in the first round? And since when is Nazem Kadri this world beater that the Bruins are afraid of?

Regardless, a Bruins Leafs series is going to go down to the wire. Most certainly.

Just wondering what Boston’s cap situation is looking like? If they were to bring in a big ticket player, do they have any room on the cap?

The Bruins and Leafs is a coin flip. Both good teams and anything can happen. If Toronto doesn’t upgrade their D it could be a sore spot again.

I think this is a good trade for Bos, as long as Coyle doesn’t turn out to be the next Jimmy Hayes.

I’m not convinced Coyle can be the 2nd line scoring threat they are looking for. But he has the potential to be. Overall I’m happy with it considering he has a good contract and signed for another year! Good Job Don!

Really mixed feelings on this trade...feels like more mismanaged assets by Sweeney. Essentially we upgraded our #3 center spot when we let a more than capable #3 center walk for nothing at the end of the year (Nash). Is Coyle better than Nash? Meh... bigger body but probably about the same skill level.
So, instead we give away a pretty solid offensive prospect in Donato to get that same center back. It was a small sample size last year from Donato but I liked what I saw from him and even though he didn't have the same impact this year (he likely should have spent the year acclimating to the pro game in Providence) the smarts, the skill and the wheels are definitely still there. I think we'll regret giving him away.
Nice that Coyle is signed another year at an ok contract... however he likely could have been had for draft picks- say a 2nd and a 4th? The fact that Sweeney doesn't value a talent like Donato over 2nd and 4th round picks worries me.
Sweeney has done a good job getting key players like Marchy and Pasta signed to good contracts, however his trading record is brutal and his drafting (see Zboril, Senyshyn over Barzal and co) leaves much to be desired.

It very well could turn out to be a bad trade if Donato turns into something and Coyle does not reach his untapped potential everyone talks about. Time will tell.
At the very least I think this helps the Bruins now and next year where it didnt look like Donato had a spot in the lineup.

Donato got passed on the depth chart by DeBrusk, Cehlarik, Heinen and Bjork. At the end of the day, even if he’s a good player, where was he gonna play? I think Donato will be ok but he’s just not that special. Media way overhyped him. Just like Vessey

EDIT: Gotta give Sweeney a little more credit with drafting. Outside of 2015 first round his draft record is looking very good. McAvoy, Carlo, Vaakanainen, Studnicka are all top level young players and guys like Lauko and Shen could be later round steals

Muzzin's defensive play is awful please put him out there along with Gardiner. Show me advanced stats now that tells me I'm wrong. Then we can discuss Muzzins turnovers that lead to Boston goals later. See Corvo, Joe, Wideman Dennis, Gill Hal
