Burkie on Edler : I would be leery about giving Edler any term. He is a marvelous player but he reads like a medical textbook with his injuries. And the Canucks need to be open and honest with him about that. He will want three years and I wouldn't consider that.
- VANTEL

This applies waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy more to Tanev than Edler.

and Vasilevsky looks so good when he's on probably better then the Nucks were, but you gotta beat the champs and get by the Pens ... the east is brutal

I hope the Pens miss the playoffs

Both Edler and Tanev need to go but I fear we missed that boat yet again. Just like the Sedins being gone we would be just fine without Edler/Tanev. But people are soooo attached to them. They are both so injury-prone now there is no need to kepp them here at all.
- LordHumungous

They are injured and can’t be traded. Canuck luck

I was reading comments on the Rangers social medias and there looks to be a large portion of their fanbase who want to keep Zuccarello and Hayes in New York. Good to know it's not just us who stay stupidly attached to our own guys

Edler, I'd be okay with moving on if Hutton continues to take big minutes and Hughes steps in and no more Poo. Tanev is a little harder for me to get rid of as our depth on the right side sucks. 2 years would be perfect for Edler, or 1 year deals (which I doubt he signs)

1) Benning wasn't the GM in Boston, he didn't have final decisions 2) you're talking about a guy who's signed the worst free agent contract in the entire NHL to build around the Sedins to remain competitive.

lol.....your move

Lol. I don’t have a lot of confidence in JB but you got to be a little bit positive about your team or there is no point in being a fan.

Burkie on Benning : I text Benji yesterday and keep in mind I don't work for the Canucks. They're keeping their picks and if there is a hockey deal that meets their long term strategy he may do something.

I mean bad luck as we always drop back at the lotto, not the pick itself.
- VanHockeyGuy

People make it out like the Canucks have no luck, which is completely false, that's all I'm saying. We have as much good and bad luck as every other team.

There's lots of good young kids to be excited about....Petey, Boeser, Horvat, Quinn Hughes, hell even Demko if he can stop tripping over his vagina and hurting himself.

I've heard JB make multiple references to keeping picks because the draft is in VAN this year. Can someone tell JB that the draft will always be held in VAN moving forward?

JBs been saying this publicly for months I don't know why it needs to be restated by Burke

The only concern I have about Edler and a 3 year deal is the amount of money. I highly doubt he'd drop below bottom pairing level 3 years from now.

I'd way rather pay him big bucks on a 1 year deal than give him mediocre money and 3 or 4 years term

I guess it really depends on how badly he wants to stay in Vancouver.

We're don't have good lottery luck, drafting Petterson was skill, drafting hughes is other teams lack of skill.

Moving up in the draft is lucky, not falling back.

Give lord Benning some props.

I will be happy if any of Granlund, Goldobin, Gudbranson, Gaunce or Boucher get moved.
Although there are others I would like too see gone, these players have been the biggest disappointments, other than the immovable Loui.
IMO.

Schaller was a waste of money. Healthy scratch half the time.

You're not concerned on Edler's age which will also bring about an even larger rise in his injury time?

Yikes.

I'm not concerned about his age because in an ideal scenario he slides down the depth chart as the contract plays out. What's far more concerning is if he needs to be counted on for 20+ minutes a night 2 years from now.

Within the next two years there will be a lot of scenarios that could happen to avoid Edler being a 20+ minute guy
