My guess is Sweeney will keep the 1st rounder. But dont rule out a combination of 2nd rounders, 3 rounders and/or prospects to land someone mid-level. If i were to speculate, I would say Sweeney will shy away from the blockbuster trade this year.

Great....wasn't Chiarelli a Harvard grad too?

I think the Bruins should be trying to get Dzingel from Ottawa as their number one target. Or go big and go after Stone and Dzingel, give Ottawa a lot and go all in.

If Sweeney wants to go all in, especially on a pending UFA, then he needs to get at least a 1-2 year extension out of the condition of the deal. First round picks and prospects for rentals in consecutive years hurt.

This is what kills me about this deadline though. If Sweeney cant land a top 6 winger without giving up Donato Vaak and a 1st, people will tear him apart. If he sends that package for Mark Stone, people will tear him apart. He can’t win. After years of screaming at Chiarelli for trading away all our picks and prospects for vets, were now screaming at Sweeney for not trading away all our pics and prospects for a vet. WTF.

My personal opinion is that this isn’t the Bruins year (they are NOT beating TB Wash, WPG or Nash). They shouldn’t make a big trade, they should continue to develop the youth, and they should push all in next season

would charlie coyle be of any interest to you? wouldn't require a 1st round pick, under control for another year, and can play both c and rw anywhere in the top 9.

I think you are right. Going for a rental UFA that will be gone after the seasons over is just too risky. Because it doesn’t solve the ongoing issue of a top 6 forward. They will be looking again at next years deadline for the same thing!
It’s time for Don to make a hockey trade. Start looking for guys with term left. It may cost more but in the long run if it’s the right guy it will be worth it.
What about Huberdeau or Kreider?

It's the internet. This is where unhappy people come to be unhappy in a group. It's the culture of shared misery.

Plenty of mid level names out there for some secondary scoring. I agree with you, it's probably not the Bruins year but I still think you can make a harmless trade or two to land a couple of guys with term and think ahead to next year. I'll take playoff hockey any day, whether it's one round or four.

Without a ton of thought, Kreider would look good for the Bruins, and he has 1 more year left. Solves the top 6 dilemma for this run and next year.

I think the focus on the 2nd line wing is somewhat incorrect. Yes it's a need I'm not denying that. However the Bruins completely lack a 3rd line and have nothing in the system to build one. I would avoid the blockbuster.

Go get Johanson from the Devils and then supplement it with another 3rd line winger. You would then have 3 complete lines. Which is an impovement over the current situation of 1 scoring line, 1 checking line, and incomplete second line and a calamity.

I'm sure Johansson woud love playing with Marchand.

Stempy is skating with the P Bruins.
He will be added to the varsity roster in short order.
