Agreed Jay. I wonder if the NHL will rig the system so pooptsburgh will win the draft lottery to make them good again when Crosby and Malkin fade into the sunset.

Ok, so it was Raffl. Simple mistake....unlike the swing Frankenstein took. I bet the suspension, if any, is a game or two, because.....pooptsburgh.

The Penguins can beat themselves up all they want for their efforts, or lack of same, on any given night. But a lot of speed – Hagelin, Chris Kunitz, Pascal Dupuis, Trevor Daley– has eroded away in just two years. And when you think about that second Cup coming despite the injury absence of Letang, that defense was deeper than probably ever credited. Justin Schultz, about to return from a 52-game absence, has proven less replaceable than was Letang by Ron Hainsey in a deadline deal that preceded the second championship

schultz isn't less replaceable than letang. you mentioned it yourself, the second cup winning team had more depth and no anchors (JJ) that helped them with a "win by committee" defensive approach. The fact that the team won without workhorse letang is a miracle and not reflective of schultz. schultz is a second pairing #4 type guy. letang is a #1 guy.

Itll be less than it should because the player safety department sucks. Not because the nhl loves Pittsburgh. Only moronic fans, like yourself, believe that.

Why even write this? You debated yourself dizzy and opened up another opportunity for the Anti-Penguin faction that this board feeds another chance to drag out some of the old favorites.

Be better.

Honestly, a really good take on the Pens. They're outside of the playoffs with some of the most elite players in the world. I mean, Sid's still Sid, Geno will turn it on, Jake's taken the next step, Phil is "slowly" getting his confidence back. I could see this team finish anywhere from top of the decision to tanking and getting a shot at the lottery.

But, I do disagree about the reason. They actually have A LOT of depth. Bit, they have changed the game plan and are still looking to gel. I hate to say it, but if the new identity is heavy and hard on the boards...Kessel may no longer be a fit. I love the player, but if that system and approach remains, he may be the odd man out.
