Ya I agree. Kylington is my favorite pick the Flames made that year. I remember when they drafted Andersson I wanted them to take Kylington and the fact we got him a couple picks later was amazing in my mind. It was well worth trading up to get him. I remember that year in early rankings some had Kylington close to a top 10 pick but something about his lack of work ethic or attitude soured popular opinion. I would not trade him for nothing but a cup run and I think this might be the time to go all in for the Flames.

100% agree Kylington was a steal but I like Rasmus even more. With those 2 and Vali in the fold we can afford to move 1 in a package if it brings back Stone . I would move Kylington and our 1st for Stone and if Ottawa needs more Mangiapane or Czarnik would be it. Otherwise i'd look at other options as it sounds like there will be many available and LOTS of teams will be interested in a cap friendly 21 year old ESTABLISHED D man.

I’d like to see us go after Toffoli out of LA or Coyle out of Minny. Both have a year remaining on their contracts, which gives us more time to add other prospects; both are right shots; both are affordable and given their play with their teams this year, shouldn’t cost too too much, comparatively.
- TandA4Flames

Both are good options. Coyle is 6'-3" like his size. But Toffoli brings more talent imo.
Keep talking about Coyle and you'll be giving Numbear a woody.

Some interesting proposals in here Flames fans.
You should push to get Anderson from the Sens. He's really good. He's the only reason we've had good hockey to watch in Ottawa for a while now. He's been through the play off war, recently too. Battled adversity on and off the ice. He's a warrior.
The only scary part is the typical Ottawa "over pay" and the one more year at 4.7 to a 37 year old goalie.

Just don't let him cook his own chicken.

Love how everyone one of you fans is wearing a red jersey...it's as effective if not more than the "white out". Pulling for you all in season 2!!..

Good luck Flames.

Just because I don't realistically see where Mangiapane or Czarnik fit into this team going forward I would gladly add them in. Especially since Dube is ahead of them in the big picture.

And I still say see if they will take Frolik. Add something in to convince that part. If you have Stone then Where does Frolik play? And they are going to really need the cap space come off-season.

I'd even be willing to add more just to stop the Jets, Sharks, or Predators from getting him. And top 6 of Gaudreau / Monahan / Lindholm, and Tkachuk, Backlund / Stone would be awesome heading into the playoffs.

Then I would look for a veteran third pair d-man. I really like the idea of Kronwall out of Detroit. No he isn't the player he once was, but he has been through the wars and will bring some experience considering he has more playoff games than all of the current defence combined.

I get the want for a back-up, but I honestly don't see much better out there. And nobody if going to take Smith back in exchange.

Anderson is the number one goalie I'd target, but it's only going to happen if the Flames completely lose faith in Rittich. Smith has been fine as a backup and it doesn't make a lot of sense to give up more resources for another goalie considering how many they've already given up in the last few years.

A little early to panic on the goaltending considering the record of both Rittich and Smith over the last few months, but it is starting to look a little similar to last year around this time.

100% on the same page.
Frolik playing 4th line left wing with Ryan and Hathaway works too.

If you can send Frolik back to Ottawa and move Brodie at the draft it will give them more cap space to try and sign Stone. Could see him signing here to play with his brother

Absolutely this.

I like Brodie, but need that cap Space. and I'd like to think that Valimaki or Anderson will fit in nicely beside Giordano. Third pairing becomes the other and Michael Stone.

Would Brodie be able to recoup the 1st rounder that they would probably have to send to Ottawa to get Mark Stone? Buffalo and Colorado both have multiple 1st's this year and are shaping up to be picking in the middle of the round. Brodie would arguably be top pairing (#3 at worst) on both of those teams.

If can't move him at the draft and Stone won't resign here maybe look to Toronto for Kasperi Kapanen as an RFA. Fills that RW spot, can probably sign him on a decent contract, and Toronto needs the defence and already has RFA issues.

Toronto's issue will be finding a way to fit a $4.5M defenceman under their cap, Kapanen or no Kapanen. Marner is going to screw them next year.

The more I think about trading for Stone the more I like it, but I am pretty nervous about his cost to acquire, especially with the likely bidding war there is going to be for him. We'll most likely be bidding against all of Nashville, Winnipeg, and San Jose for him, and probably some other teams in the thick of the playoff race. That could make his price extremely high. But then if we don't get him but one of our biggest threats in the Conference do?

If the price is right then absolutely do it, but the price could be way too high.

If it was something like:
To OTT:
2019 1st
Frolik
Mangiapane/Foo

To CGY:
Stone

Not sure Ottawa does that but I'm not a huge fan of giving up defensive depth for a playoff run, especially if it is one of our younger blueliners. We'd probably have to include one of Kylington, Andersson, or Valimaki to make it happen, and of the 3 I'd definitely prefer to give up Kylington, but trading good, young defensive depth for a rental sounds really dangerous to me.

That's of course assuming Calgary doesn't also go out and get a depth defenseman, and if they do that trading out Kylington becomes a lot easier, and I think I'd be okay with it at that point. Man, I love this time of year.

Too lazy to look but does Stone's contract allow him to dictate where he goes? Or does he have to name so many teams?

He'd probably accept a trade to his bro's team.

To answer your question though: per cap friendly he has no NTC or NMC in his current contract.

My thoughts are Brodie gets a 1st at the draft, it clears cap, which were going to need. We paid more than that for Hamonic and right now Brodie is playing some of his best hockey.

Was hoping Micheal would be the ace in the hole.
Watching that's hockey, Bob McKenzie just mentioned the same.
