He's not an upgrade over any of the Forwards the Flames currently dress on any of the 4 lines except probably Neal, and unfortunately, Neal isn't going anywhere. So the Flames' 2019 8th round pick sounds about right.

If Gundbranson is a "big name" deadline guy, I question that moniker in its entirety... Treliving is not one to operate by convention, so while I agree he is likely to go off the board, when it comes to trades, he looks for guys either with team control or guys he can lock up long term.

I would find it very surprising if he landed a pure rental type player.
