I can't believe the Ducks are as bad as they are. The last few years I legitimately thought they had one of the best rosters in the NHL. Though we don't have much draft capital as alluded to earlier, there's still like 7 players on the Ducks I would love to have on the Pens.
Unfortunately, the Ducks probably want to go young or there'd be blockbuster potential with Kessel.... Kessel/Pearson/Maatta for Rakell/Manson/Montour (not a trade proposal, those kinds of pieces as a shakeup could work for both teams) |

They got old and Carlyle was one of if not the worst coaches in the league. Not a winning combo. |

Totally unrelated to anything but can one of you Canucks tell me what you think of the show Letterkenny? Been thinking of picking it up on Hulu. - Victoro311
Been watching Letterkenny since it was a YouTube skit. One of my favorite shows. Pitter patter. |

What else does he need to be before you like him? - MattStrat
If you have a top 6 role, I would like for you to be able to score. Simon is a smart player and has stayed in the lineup largely for that reason. He has a nice niche on the 3rd line, but i feel if you get put on a top 6 role, you need to contribute on the score sheet.
It is actually good for him because he'll play with two guys who love to shoot so he just more has to be in the right place at the right time and move the puck when he has it. |

Simon has 19 points at even strength this year. That’s top 6 production. Second line Wingers even strength production rates are 22-32 points per season. He’s doing just fine.

This might be one of the worst lineups Sullivan has put out. This is Dan Bylsma terrority ugly.
The 1st line is really the only line that is good. Malkin & Kessel makes sense. You have two struggling guys that have played together and worked out before. Putting them together and hoping they would out is okay with me.
Put Hornqvist on the 3rd line, keep Pearson there and let Bjugstad at center. I dont like Simon, but he is a smart responsible guy. Put him with Malkin & Kessel at LW and see what happens.
Jake-Crosby-Rust
Simon-Malkin-Kessel
Pearson-Bjudstad-Hornqvist
Wilson-McCann-Blueger
The defense is going to struggle as long as Johnson is in there. He should be the guy to come out when Schultz is back, but like Ryan has said, he wont be. Putting him on the second pairing is flat out insane. No idea why Sullivan is doing this, he is way smarter than that. - SuperHenderson13
Okay, I have no idea if this is accurate..just off the top of my head thinking back to the 2016 cup team for rough comparison sake...
Jake-Crosby-Sheary
Kunitz-Malkin-Hornqvist
Hagelin-Bonino-Kessel
Rowney/Kuhnhackl-Cullen-Rust
I honestly think, on paper, our forward lineup now is right on par with the cup teams forwards.. |

Maybe but your older forwards have all regressed to an extent. 2016 Crosby and 2019 Crosby are not the same player. In theory your supporting cast has to carry more of the load. |

People have a tendency to allow elite hockey players (Sid, Geno, Kessel, Kucherov, etc.) to skew their perception of what normal top 6 production is. There’s just not enough pucks to go around that’s going to have every player on a teams top 6 be 60+ point players, especially when said top 6 players aren’t getting any significant PP time. |

He is no Tatar at 2.55 p60 but Simon is a very competent player for a 2nd line role. |

While I would agree that the forward lineup this season is solid. Just gotta remember how big of a factor the D plays into the forwards and how they play the game. That 2016 cup team was a transition nightmare for opposing teams. The Pens just don’t have that anymore (given injuries and what not), in terms of capable puck moving defensemen and I also think that Sully has adjusted his system dramatically (as he should given the difference in rosters) to play differently. |

I just can't with Sullivan anymore. I have no words. |

Wait, did I miss something? The Pens just traded a conditional pick for a minor-league defenseman, yet the team continues to trot JJ and his useless broken down self game in and game out? What is this team doing? |

Yeah, it says conditional 7th rounder if he plays 10 games for the Pens. Sounds like a freebie AHL player....
but a defenseman call up would be the only reason we needed to do this.....but we already have plenty of D....and Schultz will be back soon... this isn't making sense...

That was my point...not the loss of a conditional pick, although it's weird as it appears to be the Penguins helping out CBJ. Maybe GMJR traded JJ, and our 1st to anyone for a 6th! (fingers crossed) |
