terrible move
might cost them the 1st overall pick
- daeth
Nah : Murray is speeding up efforts to move Silferberg, Manson and Montour and will pull a Buffalo to not allow any goalie in the net with an NHL save percentage above .640 play the rest of the year.
Top pick not a lock, dead last place is still likely. |

I would happily make a bet that no NHL player (except from maybe his brother) or NHL coach would put Nylander on the 'top50 players to build your team around' list.
Matthews will be on there for all.
Marner and Tavares as well.
just a different category than Willie.
Kapanen at 4.5m/year is more valuable to Leafs than Nylander at 6.9. - plantheparade
Maybe not, but that's reflective of the fact that there are lots of very good players. The fact that Nylander is not one of our best three forwards is more an indication of just how deep the talent on this team is, and not an indictment of him. The fact that we have more than one "gamebreaker" is a good thing. |

So did Kadri - obviously.

Love Kappy and all.. But Willy is on a different level and is far more skilled.
He had a slow start after a rough negotiation that ruined half his season. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Yup. There's this idea Kappy is better. In his breakthrough season he'll get less points than Nylander ever has in a full season. Wily is better. |

Yup. Willy is the best forward if he's on the Habs. We're just really talented. |

He showed us last night what he is capable of, and in doing so put the rest of the league on alert. Now that Willie is on fire the Leafs are going to be so much harder to defend against. |

No - don't take hitting out of the game. If a plug like Benn runs one of your players and there is no call - time to have someone paste Drouin or Gallagher - no point in going after a player whose ice time benefits the Leafs. If Nylander wouldn't have bailed, it looked like a potential injury causing hit. Hard to call intent - looked dirty to me.

Nylander is not a gamechanger.
Some serious overvalueing by some people what he'll be able to do.
Leafs will want to keep Kapanen, so if you want to really keep Nylander, you move him to #3C and then trade Kadri. - plantheparade
He sure changed the game last night. |

Hard nose D doing his job, Nylander seen it coming and bailed...just hockey. We pretty much only have Kadri that hits anyone with some spirit...it’s unfortunate but it’s the way of our team is built at the moment.

I’m off the Manson train.
His lack of speed was badly exposed against the Leafs. Silfverberg or Rakell would be a nice pick up though.
Montour too, but they’re not moving him. |

Muzzin filled in Perry pretty well earlier this week. It was a clean hit, bothered Getzlaf and Ritchie enough to go apesh!t. Could use a couple more like that. |

Another forward who finishes hard would be nice, as long as he can hockey too. |

Need a RHD, and Montour not likely as you say. Manson would be better than Zaitsev - slow but not a marshmallow, less money, and would be ok as a 5th or 6th until we move him.

It wasn't dirty, but it was a clear elbow to the head, probably because Nylander ducked.
But should still be responsible. |

For sure..
Some players just know what to do with the puck, others (like Kappy) sorta just blast down the ice and try to get a shot off. Nylander’s Zone entries are one of the most beautiful things about the leafs. |
