Anyone who thinks Tampa is just going to run through the NHl to the cup hasn't been paying attention.

I'd put Bill Nylander back on the first PP. I might move AM into the middle ice position of the umbrella too.

Great to grab the two points im Montreal. Nothing beats this rivalry when it means something.

Nylander will just get better and better. Remember all the panicking over the contract?
- RogerRoeper

I said from day one he is a star, his contract is gonna be value for the dollar.

Love the trash talking by Leafs fans. Doesn’t matter if they play Montreal or Boston in the first round - they likely win that series. They will be ousted by Tampa in round two.
- itsallfalse

NHL is not like that. The Best regular season virtually never wins the cup. Leafs have looked very good against Tampa.

Of course. What's the big deal about 6.9 million. Wait till all the RFAs are signed this summer. That's a steal.
3-4 years the cap is at or near 100 million.

I was a little scared once I knew the Leafs would be good that maybe the Habs would suck and a great rivalry would be squandered.. And it’s still possible that it’s the case because I’m not convinced the Habs are legit.

Yes. Change up that PP. Move 34 to the middle or the right side. Nylander on the left and work the one-timer. Find room for Johnsson on the first unit too. Then have Kappy/Naz/Tavares/Muzzin/Gards on the second unit.

With that talent, it will be hard for the Habs to repeat this next season imo. That's not a team that's starting a long run here.

Yeah, Nylander is a blue chip talent. He will get hot at the right time.

6.9 will look like a steal within a year.

- RogerRoeper

Nylander is not a gamechanger.
Some serious overvalueing by some people what he'll be able to do.

Leafs will want to keep Kapanen, so if you want to really keep Nylander, you move him to #3C and then trade Kadri.

Why can't they just move other players? They won't be that much over the cap. Let Brown go and save at least 1.5 million alone.

Nylander is a 1st line, 70+ point forward imo.

This idea the Leafs need to move NYlander or Kapanen this summer and have no other options is silly,

Doubt he gets another shot. He's the worst possession coach there is.

Oh, I'm sure he will. Teams that will possibly need new coaches soon include LA, Ottawa, Edmo...

Yep.over reaction by Leaf fans using emotion instead of strategic hockey thought. I love Brown but thinkers let him go and keep both Kapn Highliner and Billy. Cap goes up, result.

I would happily make a bet that no NHL player (except from maybe his brother) or NHL coach would put Nylander on the 'top50 players to build your team around' list.

Matthews will be on there for all.
Marner and Tavares as well.

just a different category than Willie.

Kapanen at 4.5m/year is more valuable to Leafs than Nylander at 6.9.

Of course they wouldn't, silly.

You build teams around a goalie or a center, and Nylander is neither.

The Leafs can definitely keep all their RFAs. Gardiner is 100% gone. But there's ways to keep everyone else. it's not like they'll be 10 million over the cap.

Love Kappy and all.. But Willy is on a different level and is far more skilled.

He had a slow start after a rough negotiation that ruined half his season.

They have a great goalie and play well as a team. The marginal gooning (making sure star players are hit as hard as possible by marginal NHL ers, like Benn on Nylander - without a penalty call) could make things interesting. Trading for Ferland would help shore up the LW position and give the Leafs a little more ability to deliver a payback hit once in a while. Montreal had no answer when 3 on 3 started. They were (frank)ed as soon as the penalty in OT was over.
- winsix

I thought that was a pretty clean hit myself.
