nice blog

I would put tage or smith on the top line, play the other with pommer and e-rod on the 3rd line

but that would require phil to put one of these in the presser, lockport larry, lazy pod racer, bust girgs, or billionaire okposo

doubt phil has the stones to do that

Tage, imo, isn't there yet. It's probably above his pay grade, but I'd give Smith a shot

TORONTO SUN: Steve Simmons noted the Buffalo Sabres need lots of help on their blueline. He wondered if they might be interested in defenseman Nikita Zaitsev if the Leafs offered to pick up part of his salary-cap hit. He also speculated the Leafs might be able to pry Wayne Simmonds away from the Philadelphia Flyers for a second- or third-round pick or a draft pick and Connor Brown.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I don’t think the Sabres are desperate enough to consider Zaitsev an improvement even if the Leafs picked up half of his $4.5-million annual cap hit. A second-round pick and Brown? Swap Brown for Johnsson and the Flyers might do it.

Watching that kid is getting to be a little frustrating for me. I like to think I'm more optimistic than the average Buffalo fan, but why in all living (frank)s does he need to be here right now.

I guess I don’t get it.

He was close to 2-3 goals right around the net last night and made a poor choice on a 2 on1.

He actually can score goals once and a while.

Why does he need to be sent down?

Hickey played for Guhle last night. This is a bit odd. He isn't injured. Maybe something's up that we don't even know. They don't play till Tuesday in Cleveland.

The leafs and their idiot fans are out of their (frank)ing mind if they think Buffalo is going to do anything but sit back, sip on a drink, and laugh while the Leafs wallow in cap hell.

He was close twice in the second period when he had a point blank shot saved by Howard and another one where he fed Sobotka and the rebound was laying behind Howard, and he was a split second late to the other side of the net.

I get it, the dude is raw and mentally isn’t all there yet.

But it’s not like Grigorenko where he just doesn’t create any offense.

I think people would be mightily disappointed if Olofsson or Nylander were just put in the lineup with Sobotka

I know he can score. His game is just incredibly one dimensional, and that one dimension is inconsistent. Let me be clear. I'd rather he be on the ice over Sobotka. He just doesn't seem complete enough to consistently play here. I accept that he's here, I accept that the org wants him to learn here, I just wish they'd afford him to round out his game in Rochester. I suppose it's a moot point.

Yup. Good points. Hope they can move Sobotka. Imo he's worse than Gus and Lockport Larry
