It'll likely occur about 2 weeks after Pettersson's balls drop.

Interesting how having one generational center turns a dog poop roster into a playoff bubble team, isn't it?

Don't worry, you might draft one this season.

You might want to blame the fact that two thirds of the West suck equally as bad.

Canucks and Oilers are separated by 4 points with the Oil having a game in hand. You've scored 3 more goals and allowed 10 less. Not much to choose from between the two.

Trade Chiasson. He won't duplicate this production and his contract will be an overpayment for his usual production.

Move Kassian, Rieder, Petrovic and Talbot for whatever collection of picks and prospects you can get.

Spooner can act as requisite money-out on a trade for a scorer or we can keep him and hope his history as a productive middle-6 F sees him bounce back- either is fine. No need to pay to be rid of him.

Manning's buyout and his buried cap hit are pretty much the same (~1mil) so I'm not gonna pay picks to move him. He can be viable depth.

Lucic, Sekera/Russell and the increasing cap are where cap roon will have to come from.

Is Hitch going to start Koskinen any time soon, or is the organization set on showcasing Talbot up until the TDL?

Because it’s Edmonton who lacks logic I’m actually believing the reports where it’s suggested they might try and resign him

That it does. Little did we know that when we got our generational C, we'd also be getting a #GenerationalGM

THis is true... The (frank)ing COilers have proven to everyone in hockey- you can be the stench of the league for 12 years- get gifted multiple talents including a generational- and still (frank)ing suck goat balls and be in the toilet yet again... Moar2Come...

The sad sad reality is Chiarelli cost us draft picks to get the (frank)er too... Thats what you call a sweetener for getting kicked in the balls multiple times

That most definitely is a Coiler thing to do... There is no (frank)ing positives with this organization anymore... They take nice things and ruin them...

It is very tempting. However I'm finding myself wanting something a little more, something like Maenalanen and Foegele.
- Wildschwein

I don't think Carolina would be okay with adding one of those two, and I would understand as to why. We would already be getting great value back in all metrics (cap space flexibility, actual player impact value, diversification of our assets, and youth) considering what is at stake.

Not to mention the deal makes good hockey and business sense for both sides.
Carolina gets that elite 1C, a goalie that can turn out into something for them, and a prospect that would do him well in a new environment, especially in one where he'll have two Finnish comrades to work with (Aho & Maenalanen).

We get a top 6 beast in Teuvo, who could turn out to be a ppg player (point totals are going up every year; at pace for 70+ points this season). Then there is Pesce who I think will turn out to be a replica copy of Larsson or even better. He is already a great defender in his own right. Both players are at fantastic cap friendly contracts and are young (24).

Our defense is solidified as top 10 the moment that trade is made, perhaps elite (due to balance and depth) by Christmas of next year depending on development from Bouchard, Jones, Byram(?), and further growth from Nurse & Pesce. We may take a hit in offense initially, but I'm a firm believer in that defense generates offense (more defensive stability, easier it will be to move the puck, thus more offensive probability/chances). Offensively, I'd be determined to go for Stone in the F/A (trade Kassian, Manning, Chiasson, Spooner to open up cap space and possibly buy out Sekera or Lucic).

Numbers might get better if he is indeed on the top line
- RatedR80

Precisely. Boost up his value as much as you can and trade him at the deadline. He has done us well at times and can be a contributor, but that cap space should be spent in getting a top 6 winger considering our situation.

Keith Gretzky should be doing three things....

1) Puljujarvi and Yamamoto both to Bakersfield.

2) Move Petrovic, Manning and Kassian for picks.

3) See if Chiasson is willing to sign an extension (two years tops and not for crazy money). If not then you move him at the deadline.

- Reveen.

1) This

2) This

3) Trade him regardless. See what Bone said. His value will most likely never be higher than it is right now.

If you can extend Chaisson for 2 years at 1.5, I'm all for it. Depends on what his ask is going to be. We should be talking about jettisoning Brodziak too. I know he just makes over a mil, but Cave or Malone could fill that spot (if you want to keep Khaira on the wing) and couldn't possibly have worse results than him. I also get that moving Kassian would clear some cap, but the sad fact is that he is now our 5th highest goal producer on the team, and there is nobody to fill those shoes. God, this team is brutal.

We should trade him along with many others but Kassian will actually have a bit of value considering his play as of late......if he does go to a playoff team then I wouldn’t be surprised to see 16/17 Kassian emerge....he seems to be that kind of guy which no doubt helps the team that gets him
