I feel like we've had this Toews discussion, but...

He carries 10.5M until he's like 35. He's a very good player, but not great and certainly not elite. He's not in the top ten as far as centers go and IMO barely in the top 20 of best forwards in the league.

If we're putting all skaters into the conversation, he's definitely not in the top 20.

It's a terrible contract, one of a few on that team that have hampered them from building that into a better team.

It’s a bad contract. It’s not a top 5 worst contract in the league. It’s moveable.

Canes won last night.
Isles and Sabres won today.
Canes are now one point back with the Sabres only two.

How is that moveable? Not many teams can eat that hit. Unless they take on deals just as bad, like Seabrook... oh wait.

Fair enough, but I'd definitely say top ten.

Cap will come back, and it won't particularly be good cap either, but they could offload Toews without having to sell the farm. There are a ton of contracts out there that teams would have to sell the farm to get rid off. Seabrook, Lucic, Weber, Kessler probably Keith at this point. Toews' cap hit makes trading him a bit more complicated, but I think his contract still has more value than Russel's, Alzner's, or Jack Johnson's if a team with the right cap situation was identified.

You're confusing difficulty of figuring out how to make a trade work with the hypothetical desirability of a contract. It's relatively easy to figure out how to make Johnson's $3.25 mil fit under the cap but a team would have to be highly incentivized to take it on. I think if a team figured out a road map to fit Toews' $10 mil, they wouldn't have to be as incentivized.

10.5mil for 4.5 more years for a player who tops out as a 2nd line center... nah, I don't think I am confusing difficulty over desirability. He is still an above average player, that I will not debate, but teams that would want him would be contenders. They won't have the cap space to add 10.5 mil for the next four years.

Now, if for some reason (which wouldn't be a bad idea on Chicago's front) Chicago eats half his cap hit. They could get back some picks for him. In that crazy scenario... Buffalo would be a team I think should look to buy on him for the 2nd line at that cost so they can make the next jump into playoff contention.

But if Chicago is not eating a massive chunk of his cap, I don't see that as moveable until the last year.... so I say he is unmovable.

I'm quite curious to see what the lines will be. I'm curious to see if Sullivan is stubborn as hell or realizes a mistake.

can someone explain to me how Wilson did not get an instigator and game misconduct for going after Cole after his hit on kuznetsov?

Maybe I don't fully understand how that rule is interpreted but I would expect if you instigate a fight there for deliberately go after someone specifically then it should be a penalty, I would think it's relatively black and white. Anyone else have any insight?

About as decent as he could shuffle them without Malkin. However I am feeling a four to two loss tonight. Got lucky and jumped on the lightning three times out of the gate last time

Hope you’re right. They look awake, but I worry about being able to consistently generate chances when the first line isn’t out there. Would be great to see the new additions drive some play

Gotta say, the 2nd line looks pretty good. Hmmm....what's missing? Oh yeah... the 42 year old center.

Sidney Crosby makes history once again!

Congratulations to the captain on playing in his 916th NHL game, surpassing Mario Lemieux for the most games played in Pittsburgh Penguins history.
