Not s big enough impact to blame a subpar season on the signing of Him or his play. Move on people.
- Grinder47

I don’t believe that Johnson is to blame for the subpar season but I do believe his signing plus Matt Cullens, and a few other things factor in on it.

Malkins play this year gets mentioned 1/25th the time of Johnson’s. Which has a bigger impact on the team? I like Malkin these past few years too.
- Grinder47

Malkin is over a point per game. I think most of the criticism on Geno is way overblown and I would say that Johnson’s poor play has a bigger negative impact on the team than Geno’s poor play. Even with Geno (frank)ing up, he can make up for it with some points. JJ literally does nothing well. He can’t make up for his deficiencies at all, Geno can.

Jack Johnson is -8

Malkin is a -18

Yeah, Geno's poor play isn't close to Johnson's

I know you're not serious, but I'll entertain this reply anyways haha

Jack Johnson at 5v5 is a -16 goal differential.
Evgeni Malkin at 5v5 is a -2 goal differential.

"But Geno sucks on the PP."

Geno is a +18 goal differential on the PP.

I think something that people fail to notice about top point producers is that they're likely to commit for more turnovers than the average player because they're taking more chances. Yes, Geno has had some doozies this year, but so has Sid and other top players in the league.

Geno, Sid, Kucherov, Stamkos, Hedman, Gaudreau, MacKinnon and Tavares all have a negative giveaway/takeway differential.

Top players take more chances which is also why they produce the way they do.

Geno has 63 giveaways and 53 takeaways and ATOI is 18:47

JJ has 22 giveaways and 8 takeaways and his ATOI is 19:10

Johnson has more time on the ice, which is scary enough, and is far less involved. He's floater in every sense of the word and Geno is having to get more involved because of it.

I would also argue that Geno's poor play could also be a result of being on the ice with JJ more often. When the guys on the ice can't play to your strengths and you have to dumb down your game, poop is going to go wrong. On an absolutely smaller scale, having to play with lesser players in beer league is frustrating because you expect them to be certain places, or do certain things and they just don't... I couldn't imagine how frustrated playing with guys like JJ would be at the NHL level. I'd love to see a Penguins version of the Ottawa Uber video for this season with Geno, Sid, Phil and Tanger

Geno: "He make me crazy. He never do nothing and don't want play better."

Sid: "Yeah, he's my boy, but he's a dummy."

Phil: "That (frank)in douchebag couldn't get me the puck once last game."

Tanger: "Try having nightmares of getting paired with him"

Greetings from Tampa. Malkin and ZAR remain non-contact today. Schultz and Murray are full-go again as well.

Im really hoping Bjugstad goes back to C for this game. If Sully sticks with Cullen at 2C I'm gonna poop.

Yeah that's the big 5 right there. JJ is in the next tier down cap wise for bad contracts. Those are all 6m and up.

Kesler's is worse than all of them. Phaneuf, Dustin Brown- there are plenty out there.

Toews is too good of a player to in the top of bad contracts. Its bad value and certainly a bad contract, but I don't think he's totally unmovable when there's a lot of contracts around the league that are unmovable

Toews is a good player. The problem is they aren't moving either Toews or Kane. They will be lifers there and get their jerseys retired. That's what happens when you win 3 cups and are the captain of the team. Seabrook has the worst contract on the team they should def try and move him.

The way I see it that’s a personal decision by Bowman that doesn’t necessarily make the contract better or worse. I think if they got serious about shopping Toews they’d be able to find the right trade that doesn’t set them back all that much. On the other hand, trading Seabrook would require a massive asset dumb that I’m not sure a franchise would be willing to stomach.
