As someone who regularly criticizes the Pens for their effort/urgency I don't think that's been an issue tonight at all. It's been a game of mistakes and Tampa is taking advantage.

I have hope that come playoff time, maybe the rest helps Malkin and he locks in and with Schultz back this team has a shot hanging in a series with anyone.

But it’s also a very realistic situation that they do not make the playoffs entirely. The three point games and overall parody in the league makes their routine of mentally taking entire weeks off at a time a death sentence.
