Prediction: Hawks and/or Flyers make the playoffs.
So who does that knock out of each conference?
West: Minnesota
East: Pits/Columbus

Wild fans seem to be rumbling about going into seller mode and BJ fans appear to have rounded this corner as well.

Ofcourse if you are still in a playoff spot at the end of Feb, it will be hard for management to justify selling good players, hence teams that never reset and just stagnate.

Pits is clearly a buyer.

Teams should see who they can pry from the Wild.

Most Bergevin will do is pick up a veteran LD, maybe Andy Greene (for a 3rd?), and his usual bottom 6 depth.

It is the Bergevin strategy. Grab all the 3rd and 4th liners you can to keep them from the other contenders. Rene Bourque available???

Flyers have a starting goalie on an ELC, 5 million + in space coming off the books with Neuvirth and Elliott and already had about 8 mil in cap space. Even if they resign Simmonds why the hell would you trade Ghost on a very team friendly cap hit? Unless you think Provorov is going to hold out for Doughty money.

Hey all of the sudden we are in playoff contention, let's sell off Simmonds and Ghost so we can sign Provorov to a bridge deal this summer.

Simmonds is a gamble either way. Do you trade him for unknowns of picks and prospects or do you sign him and pray he don't hit the dreaded 30+ power forward wall in a few years.

I guess it depends on how many years he demands. You guys have Ghost and Couts on very nice cap hits long term and MacDonald and Gudas coming off the books over the next two years. I'd say signing Simmonds is worth the risk if he will take 4-5 years and then hope he isn't the next Ryane Clowe.

Clowe, Lucic, Clarkson.... there's a mine field of names

I'd go 4 and pray but I think he wants 5-6 at JvR money. I'm one who loves where the Flyers sit cap wise. Hextall did a great job there. Now we just need a few of Myers/Morin/Frost/Farabee/Allison/Ratcliffe/O'Brien to hit.

So glad the Oilers upped the ante the other day and got Parayko
Then today got Hayes and Barrie

Yup, things are looking great in this wonderful land that can only be reached when you smoke a rock of crack the size of a monkey's fist

ummmm...yeah...

I think weā€™re seeing it. I know he hasnā€™t been very healthy the past year or so, and that has slowed him and his production down, but I kinda think weā€™re seeing the beginning of the end of him being a strong player. Donā€™t you?

Not to say he canā€™t rebound and contribute more. He sure can. But I donā€™t think we want him for 5 years. The last couple are gonna be rough.

I like the idea of the Flyers going for the playoffs even if it means they lose ping pong balls. I want to see the team go out strong with Carter Hart as their mitochondrion.

Hart doesnā€™t want to come into the league with a team that isnā€™t going to try their damndest. Of course he is going to stumble for sure, but he feels to me like one of those players that the more you throw at him, the stronger he gets. Thrives off that poop. Kids a killer.

What a joke! So much for the 'BIG DAY' . Should have known better than to trust EK. Guess Bob, Pierre, Nick , Doug and Darren haven't tweeted or broke any news/rumors so therefore EK is quiet.

Impossible. With Boyle gone, Lovejoy's leadership job doubled! His value is at least double that of Taylor Hall, maybe creeping up on Marty Brodeur.

The Sharks, Wild, and Oilers are all names I heard today. Vegas could also have interest...although I am starting to hear the Knights are looking elsewhere...

Lol the entertainment value is top notch.
Like Ek would know who anyone else is talking to specifically and about what... then the best finally:
Although I am starting to hear the Knights are looking elsewhere. Hahahaha LOL!!!
I was typing and I just started to overhear a conversation... no wait this way up high high Team Exec just texted saying
Hey Ek - thought you should be the first to know: Yeah u probably already guessed it Ek; but the Kights, well they are looking elsewhere. Donā€™t believe just me - Iā€™m sure someone from the knights themselves wil confirm for you. Iā€™ll keep filling you in as I hear things Ek. Ur the man
