Pens definitely got outplayed this period, but thanks to Murray and some taking advantage of some chances the Pens have the lead. - Rinosaur
I missed the first 10 but it looked pretty even in the 2nd. |

Leafs really had the territorial advantage and definitely got more quality chances. The big difference has been Murray and the Pens being opportunistic.
EDIT: The Pens tightened up as the period went on. |

I think Sid’s 1-T is on par with Malkin’s, he just doesn’t get to use it nearly as much. I think Sid is better down low and on the half wall over Geno. Too many turnovers from 71 in that spot - WSCTeton17
I think Sids placement is better than Genos but Geno has a way more powerful one timer in my opinion. |

Yup. Geno’s flirting with 100 mph. That was about Sid’s best at ~85. Still nothing to scoff at. |

I do look at them, but it's better to looks after the game. Usually the real-time gets adjusted a bit.
But just watching the game the Pens haven't really got any good chances right in front of Sparks. Other than the PP and Bleugers goal which was from a bit outside, I think only Bjugstad really got an in-close high quality chance.
The Leafs have done a good job of keeping the Pens to the perimeter while the Pens haven't done the same in their own end.
EDIT: Letang also got one quality chance about ten feet in front. |

Plus I think Sid down low produces better results than having Geno down low. There was that time where they had Sid on the half wall and wherever Geno was he just didn’t fit. |

Agreed. I’m not a fan of Sid roving or Geno at the point. |

RBK is creating which is more than we can say for any of our previous 3rd line combos this year.
Honestly, the two 19’s look the same. |

Bleuger is really looking good.
On negative note, the Pens are doing a terrible job of clogging up the lanes right in front of Murray. |

I disagree, but maybe that's because of my level of expectation. McCann hasn't stood out, but I thought he's been pretty darn solid. |

I think they've seriously mentioned three times in one minute that TOR is the best faceoff team in the NHL. |

Which is also nice because how many times when Geno misses does the puck fire around and out of the zone |

Bjugstad had a pair of quality shots inside the tops of the circle. Rust had a close one driving the net. Crosby almost got sprung on a breakaway but it turned into a one handed shot |

They're just not getting enough quality chances/shots. I don't necessarily mean "high danger," but just quality, nor are they sustaining cycles enough. |

I disagree. He’s 64% on faceoffs, same as he was last night. He hasn’t been at fault for any big chances against. He’s been extremely supportive of his D on the breakouts and then he curls up to join his wingers.
Pearson and Hornqvist haven’t given him much to work with. A little cycling but really it’s been dump and done |

Do you watch TO much? They’re a solid team for the most part and I think now that they have Muzzin this stalwart D game is going to be the new normal. Babcock also loves to match lines and he has a number of forwards who will likely get Selke votes |

I'm aware how good Toronto is and said prior to the game that this will be tougher than Tampa. Doesn't mean the Pens can't make adjustments. |
