It's nice we get another look at Rust Bjugstad Kessel tonight. If they build some chemistry I like our lines. Can tweak them as usual but this could be good.
Guentzel-Sid-Simon(McCann)(worth a trying?)
Pearson-Geno-Horny
Rust-Bjug-Phil
Blueger(ZAR)-McCann(Cullen)-Wilson(Simon) |

saw a good quote... GMJR has a really good strategy getting younger, cost controlled, high upside assets...but is he betting on the right players?
Pearson has been pretty invisible no? - YouMeAndDupuis9
No I actually think Pearson’s been good. He just got tied to Brassard which was a production death sentence. If Rust-Bjugstad-Kessel catches on he should be back with Malkin where he played and produced really well before getting stuck with Suttard. |

Yeah that's what I was just saying, if that line works that's our third line. |

I'm curious how Simon will handle the playoffs. I think he's a solid player for his price but I just feel like something is missing. I'd prefer him on the third line but I guess we'll see. |

If these playoffs are like last years, then just about anyone playing with 87/59 are going to rack up some points. Someone else said it, I’m also glad they get to go right back out with RBK tonight.
McCann looked a step behind and he looked nervous. I think we’ll see a different player tonight but he’s still the odd man out in the top 9 right now. Blueger looked much better than McCann even but it was unusual circumstances. I would expect more tonight. Or maybe not, depends on what number he’s wearing |

Yeah the composure/comfort levels of both Bjugstad and McCann were polar opposites Haha. Bjugstad looked like he'd been on the team for years.
Tougher test tonight. |

I think he's over his head on the 1st line. He's like Sheary... Good value at 750K. Just don't give him 3mil.
Hornqvist should be on the 1st line. If McCaan or Bleuger proves competent at 3c, Maybe Bjugstad on the 1st line.

Pretty funny, they gave Bjugstad and McCaan a police escort through rush hour traffic from the airport to the arena last night. Bjugstad said he'll remember it the rest of his life. Something tells me that wouldn't happen in Florida. |

Bjugstad, to my eyes looks like a natural C. Only one game, I know. I never watched many Panthers games with him, usually only when Pens played them, and when I watch the Pens play I pay alot more attention the Pens players than the other teams, but his first 3 or 4 seasons he was taking around or more than 1000 draws a season with around a 50% success rate. |

I agree. Tonight will be the real test. We are playing Toronto in a back to back and Bjugstad and McCann can finally get some coaching tips and practice before the game. As someone mentioned earlier. Idk if JR is done. I think it depends on how we play (if it were a bigger trade). It seems JR is trying to get younger with his trades. so I could see a small deal or two before the deadline is over. We still do have some cap space to work with due to the Big rig trade and Schultz injury I would not be surprised to see JR make some Depth moves. |

I think it’s too early to start talking about a Simon extension. He’s not exactly a proven commodity but he’s looked decent so far this season. The cap is going up this next season so there’s the potential to bring in a guy like Pirri for say $2.25MM on a 1-year “do it again” contract, depending on how he finishes the year or maybe Simon really does seize the role the rest of the way. The other thing to be conscious of is the expansion draft - that’s why Stalock got a 3-year deal and I read somewhere that DeSmith is expansion eligible now with his new deal. GMs will absolutely be considering that with the new extensions they hand out |

I dunno. I’m 100% sold on Simon. I think he’s only going to become better. |

I just read on Sportsnet that McCann won 64% of his faceoffs last night. I do recall him winning quite a few but they weren’t dominant wins from what I recall. He had some offensive chances and he had some good defensive plays while also losing his guy a few times... so basically he outperformed Brass while playing less
We play FLA next Thursday btw. What’re the odds Brass is still there? I would think that Winnipeg and Dallas would be willing to pay the most followed by the Canes and the Jackets. The Jackets continue to slide with bad goaltending |

Why am I seeing any Simon hate? Dude has been carrying that line during Malkins massive slump. |

All I know is Brass will score at least two goals next time we play against him. And he's destined for Columbus and will be shadowing Sid in the playoffs lol.
I am curious to see his return when FLA inevitably trades him for futures. |

I could see him Bjug becoming a Guerin like winger for Sid. McCann and Blueger are the 3C and 4C
