I truly think the Leafs are far closer to a cup this year than majority believe. Those 3 centres will be very difficult to match-up with and beat. - RogerRoeper
Agreed. But haters love to think otherwise. The could use a couple of pieces for sure obviously. |

Laine has the Cy Young Award locked up.
25-9
If Winnipeg makes the finals, I'm guessing he starts game #1. - Atomic Wedgie
Laine only has 25 goals in 48 games. what a bust. |

Marleau was again invisible last night.
I don't know if he's pacing himself for the playoffs, playing safe minutes, harboring an injury or what, but he's looked like he lost a step big time this year.
Still, I'd rather have this and let the Goat sit:
Marleau Lindholm Moore/Ennis
I've rooted for Gauthier since he was drafted, but I just don't know if he's an NHL player. He's David Steckel Lite at this point. |

Leafs vs top 10 teams in the NHL (not including themselves obvy) - 11-5 - 113 point pace
Leafs vs other teams - 19-12-2 - 99 point pace.
That's interesting - walshyleafsfan

I think you could also look at it like the lesser teams "turning-it-on" against the Leafs, playing tighter, more physical, less space.
Having said that, it's been a perfect storm since the Xmas break:
- Andersen hurt, save percentage dips below .900 for a long stretch of games.
- Nylander/Matthews/Kadri all go cold (or never warm up, in Willy's case), can't buy a goal
- PP goes stone cold, never get enough opportunities to make it right either.
That's a lot of things to go wrong all at once. - gravyface
Now was the best time for all those points you made to happen. Gives our players plenty of time to get back on track, should be fun to see how everyone is playing as it edges closer to playoffs.

He's always so bang on...bye Nylander, hellow Adam Larsson
I dont get why he doesnt stop with his rumors, no one believes him. He should just focus on the page content, and features and he'd be better off.... |

No team is perfect, but I laugh at hearing the Leafs aren't good enough when just last season, an expansion team got to the finals.
We saw last night, we have a guy who's a 3rd line C that can be 1st line C on a lot of teams.
And Nylander will look great soon. |

Have you watched him play a game this year. Terrible defensively. By far the worst +/- on the team. very lazy player. |

I hate the long lay off though. No game until a week Friday means the schedule will probably be condensed as hell for the remainder of the season. |

Philly trades Simmonds and Gudas to Edmonton for Talbot, then Edmonton flips Simmonds, Gudas and Nurse to us for Nylander? |

Love how a 7m per player gets a couple of assist and finally backchecks and people start creaming their little briefs.
It was his best game so far, good to see.
Can he at least repeat the effort, we'll see.
Im hopeful, cause leafs cant have an inconsistent 7m per player. - Fakepartofme
really hung up on the pay. IDGAF
he has had a bunch of good games, thats easy to see

And the coach is the only one who doesn't notice. Marleau needs to go. He's lost a massive step since last season. And he gets so much TOI considering.
I am sick of hearing about what Nylander makes. Marleau is a bigger problem and makes 6.3 million.
Nylander is getting better. He's 22 and starting to catch-up on the time he missed. Marleau is 39. It's over. |

I think he got knocked down to the 4th line for a few shifts in the 3rd last night? It's a start but I can't imagine a world where Babcock doesn't give a veteran like Marleau every chance in the world plus 50 more. |

I laughed when I saw that the Toronto Star had an article stating the Islanders are "contenders" when all we hear from the MSM is that Toronto isn't ready yet. |

I thought the goats recent games were fairly decent. His play has picked up, just needs to use his size more imo. |

I've tried to watch some of their games.. Laine is not even close to Matthews talent. I think we can finally say that Matthews is better than Laine |

He's basically a worse version of Phil Kessel, when Kessel was on the Leafs. |

Or it may be just that he's really franking old.
As per Gauthier, he's the exact same as Joe Colborne. I really, really, really wanted Colborne to work out.
But damn, they gave the guy 57 bajillion chances, and he just couldn't hockey at an NHL level. I remember going to the last pre-season game before they gave him away to Calgary, and damn, he was awful. |
