Also, he was absolutely correct in his assessment. They could and they did.

It's his job to handle the media and exude confidence. I don't see how any of it is "unneccessary" as it almost certainly has little bearing on how negotiations between agents and players play out - it's simple media bites that satisfy the fans and sports pundits.

I like my GMs like I like my superheroes - kinda stealthy.

I’m a huge Dubas fan, have backed him from day one, but he didn’t walk into the role knowing everything about everything.

There’s a learning curve and it doesn’t make me less of a Leafs fan because I think taking the spotlight off these key signings is better for all parties involved. Confidence is one thing, backing yourself into a corner for no specific reason is another.
